Yeah, I don't think it will really go up in value. Lakland will probably start making something similiar. You can also get blocks and binding on a Fender '70s Classic now.

If you're GAS'n for something different, I don't think you should worry too hard about selling a possible collector's item unless you're trying to keep it mint in a case under the bed. But who knows what'll be out there in 10-20 years. I don't think you can go back to the early Fender Jazz/Precision or other builder days when it started.

I read somewhere that Darryl got POed at Lakland because they stopped using Aero pups and substituted their own pickups w/o his knowledge.

Considering they started using in-house pickups in the DJ more than two years ago, I find this difficult to believe.

Yep, just change it up a bit based on some sound legal advice to get past the roadblocks.

A more "traditional" body shape, lose the bent control plate and go with the neck specs on the other models and be off to the races.

Personally, I hope they stay away from doing an "AC" model and just get on with the black blocks and binding already!!

The already have a traditional body shape in the JO. Of course to get blocks and binding, you have to go with the US model. The DJ is unique because of the smaller body size. It feels great compared to a big ol' Jazz body. It was nice having both options. The DJ owns the JO IMHO simply because it's a bit different, and I much prefer the shape of the heal and the much larger cutaway compared to a jazz bass. Everything about it is more comfortable to me.

No "official" word about this yet from Dan but I really do suspect that the "resurrection" of A Bass has ALOT to do with it.....if you go to the web site, it is heavily implied that Darryl may even have $$$$ in the company....if he does, it would not make sense to have another company make a signature bass with his name on it.

as for Lakland making "something similar"....that is still up in the air....last I heard, Dan was looking into what he can/can't do.....since it has been a while since he promised an announcement I assume it is not as "cut and dry" as some might think...

I am a huge fan of B&B necks so I hope there is one offered on a Skyline J series bass.....

For around US prices, you can get blocks and binding other places if desired. The Skyline price was the kicker for me.

I like the smaller body too. It would be cool if they can still do some kind of down-size body. I'm sure Dan is checking his legal P's and Q's on this one.

I like the smaller body, but didn't like the longer upper horn. The new version (the numbered one) with shorter horn looks cool to me.
