I've noticed what Munji noticed - flourescent lights and computer monitors seem problematic. Distance from the object seems to make a big difference.

Lakland dissapointment!!

This is a trick question, right?
Unless you're using Tara Labs cables, any high frequency spikes and transients on the current coming out of the wall can end up getting past the filters in your amp. It creates noise. It's probably not enough to damage cabs, but noise is noise.
When i got my 55-01 i couldnt find one fault with it until i tried recording at my PC and it buzzed (not loud but loud enough to make me not use it).
My Jazz passive Jazz doesnt do it so i would have expected my 55-01 not to either.
this is the only bass i have ever had trouble like this with.
This is how it came to me, brand new. Im not trying to knock Lakland but this is how it left the factory and this had a quality control signature on it.
Guess i could have shipped it to Lakland, all the way from the UK and been without a bass for a month or so but i decided to live with it. Maybe this is how they all are. If sd thats a bad design IMO.
My point is that no matter how good the after sales service would have been i should not have a need for it hours after getting a brand new bass (taking it back to the shop was out as they said they would send it to Lakland as well or just give me a refund.)

Hi! Just came back from a concert. I brought both my basses just too se if it was the studioroom. that generated the buzzing but no. The staticelectricity was there as well. Ended up using my 55-02 that is deadsilent. I will switch the electronics in my basses that´s the only thing to do right now. I haven´t heard anything from lakland yet about it but hope the will answer my email.

E-mail Kirk or Brian at Lakland.com they'll probablly respond within a few hours. I bought a DJ 4 from Musicians Friend that just was a wreck! After explaining my problem they issued me a return authorization number and I sent it back. They completely went through it and when I got it back it was perfect! Leveled the frets, all new electronics and a set up. That was last June, I'm sure nothing has changed. They have great customer service!

They do have excellent customer service. I emailed Kirk about my bass and he got back to my immediately with all the info I needed. What is really sad about this one is that he's in Europe. This would be much easier if he was in the states as far as shipping and communications go.

They use oxygen-free copper, in which the atoms are aligned in the direction of the current flow, so transients are eliminated by inverse phase cancellation. Also, the dielectric inside the outer coating shunts any high-frequency (above 100 Khz) to the outer coating, which is polarized in the opposite direction of the wire, sending the transients back to the outlet, acting as a tuned wave-guide.
Other than that, nothing.
