Lakland Electronics/PU Question

After reading so many good things about Lakland basses on here I am gassing big time for a Lakland USA!

There aren't too many around here in central Fl. though.

One of the things I've noticed is that the pickups apparently are a choice to make as to which ones to get.

I'll never get to hear live whatever is available and would like to know if anyone has any knowledge about them they would like to share. Thanks, Frank

it's not quite central, but being in florida, i would say hands down your best bet is to check out bass central in fern park/orlando. if you haven't been on their website, check it out. you'll be glad you did.

Oh yeah....I'm a customer of Bass Central :smug: I've been in touch with them on this guitar. The thing is they only have two USA 4 string in stock. I'm trying to figure out how the other pickups offered might sound in comparrison to the Lakland pickups on the two in the store. :hyper:

For what it is worth, my Valenti has Nordy Fatstacks and a mighty Aguilar OBP-3. I'd bet this combination would work well in a Skyline or USA Lakland. You would need to have several of the pots as push-pull switches, but that seems pretty normal nowadays with lots of onboard bass pre-amps. :p

I might mention that my 55-01 Deluxe is an early model with Barts and the (infamous?) Korean Pre-amp. I am very happy with the sound of this pre/pickup pairing. The only issue I ever had was that the pre was too hot to run wide open with a compressor pedal I used to use. Since I rarely use a compressor anymore, that has ceased to be a big issue. :bassist:
