Anyone have any issues with their jacks? Suddenly my jack has developed an issue where when I put the cable in, it feels like something is in there and then it barely snaps into place. I haven't opened up the cavity to inspect as yet. Is it an easy jack to replace? Bass is a 55-01 and is my current main player.
I too had an issue with my 55-01's jack. Its a pretty standard peice, I took mine to get it replaced and they threw a new one in without any trouble and I never had another problem with it. It sounds like the prong inside is bent, which you can probably manually fix, but it'll keep happening.
This is an unfortunate issue with some of those side mounted jack designs. I had to have my Sadowsky jack replaced after a few years of reasonably heavy gigging. My repair shop charged me $10 to do the job. Eventually, something will stretch out a bit in there. On my newer Sadowsky, it looks like Roger has changed the design from using the 'football' type plate to the concave type mounting design. We will see if those are more reliable. Very minor issue, and it will happen every few years if you are gigging a lot.
