Here is my USA Glaub...Very traditional which is interesting since I don't normally like Tburst finishes. I am mainly a 5 string guy but I don't seem to miss it on the Glaub.
And my other Lakland
Very nice! I'm normally not a 'burst guy, either, but it just works sometimes. Actually, same goes for that buckeye top--that one looks great with the contrast of the chrome Lakland bridge.

I can totally understand that. I'm very happy with my herd right now, and the LOG bass is likely to come only as a fiver (I stick to fours). What's your US Glaub look like?

I haven't posted mine yet in part 23, so...

I've said it before, but....
MAAAAAANNNNNNN, that's a hella-hot defective bass!!!!!

My concern with swapping out the preamp is that I love how the basses sound already, whether the LH3 colors the tone or not. I don't want to change it.

I've also thought about just putting the treble control in the cavity, and putting a PTC in it's place. I never boost treble, so I'd just set it flat, wrap it in a little foam and tuck it away inside. A PTC would be all I would need for controlling top end when I want to darken things up, especially on the fretless.

Well it's upto you, you can always get the orignal preamp back in the bass. I would consider that before going to the extreme by putting the treble knob and pot hanging inside of the control cavity. It's your bass you can do what you want with it, but if the original Lakland preamp does not have a passive tone option and has to be wired in then I wouldn't want to do that personally. I would just go with a preamp that already had that option and when you go to sell it you would give the buyer the option of which preamp they wanted in the bass before or after the sale... just my two cents.

Peace,
