Dumb question here....in all the discussion about a skyline BG5 being released, I have heard a lot of mention of the up front cost to create it. What upfront costs are there? I have no idea what goes into building basses first of all...let me say that, but I am assuming it could use the same neck from the 55-02's or JO5. Bridge is the same, PAssive controls would be the same as a BG4, all I can see id the upfront time/expense of writing and programming the CNC's for the body machining (which would be a few small changes to the BG program) and the same programming for the P/G. I know I m ake it sound very simple, and I am sure there may be more to it that that, but what am I missing?

Well, it's just that Dan isn't sure 30 would sell in a timely manner, and with Lakland not being a large company, I'd assume they need to keep inventory fairly lean, and just build basses they think will sell in an allotted amount of time. I and others on here believe that they WOULD sell, but then again, it's not our money at risk, either....

well, i know Dan knows more about it than me...lol. Here is a crazy idea....if the finish is an issue, why not work a special deal where they will do a run of 30...UNFINISHED, and then maybe work out some kind of special pricing with someone (like Pat Wilkins) to do finishing for the people who buy them. It may raise the price to the end user slightly, but it would then be a truly custom BG5. I am just really wanting a BG5 right now...lol
