I've been hearing about poutine for a while now. I must have it!
oh my god. Poutine is tops! I went to school near the Canadian border, and my family is French-Canadian. Poutine has been a big part of my life
At first, I gagged at the image of it. Then I thought... hmm it's potatoes n gravy. That's not bad! But what's w/ the curd?? Is that like cottage cheese?
To be honest, i'm still getting acquainted with it. I've only had it for about 3 weeks and haven't used it in another setting other than at-home practice.
So far I like it a lot. Since I gave my son my Ampeg B-100R combo(that I absolutely adored), I was looking for a fairly inexpensive 115 combo, and didn't want a current Ampeg.
In short, I really like it. It's quite loud without breaking up(250watts) and I can dial in a pretty good traditional tone, as well as a zingy, modern tone using the eq.
Surprisingly, I like the overdrive too, except when using the onboard compression, the volume drops a bit when switching from clean to overdrive. I don't really use the "shape" circuit much. It gives it more "girth" to the sound, but to me, it's almost too bassy.... and I like bassy, but it's almost overbearing at times and smoothes the sound out a bit much, to my ears. I'm not a huge fan of the tiltback cab design, but that's just personal. Also wish it had a mute switch.
Sorry I can't really give you a more thorough review, but it's a heck of a combo for just a sliver over $500.
It does exactly what I need it to do, and I wouldn't hesitate to gig it.
Don't get me wrong, it's no Mesa Walkabout Scout combo, but it's a solid piece.
Guys, if you happen to visit the factory some time soon please make a teaser shot of a Translucent Burgundy 55-07CSHH body that's hanging around there. That one is my friend's. It may be accompanied (but I think yet not coupled) to a fretted unmarked ebony fbd. neck
Finally!
and the very first one in Russia
I hope you're wearing asbestos underwear...
