It's the standard Lakland fiver neck. In other words- perfection. I thought about adding a J to mine, but it already sounds amazing, and I rarely use the bridge pickup on my JO5.
And yes, Orange is the way to go.....

Cool. Wasn't sure if they changed the nut width on those or not. For some reason the string spacing looked different to me in his pics... more like a P. I'd prob have to stick with the Tort PG and the bound/blocked RW neck. Pretty sharp either way though.

Hate to bring back the String Discussion - but I went with High Beams and set up the 5501 this weekend. What I found is the B did not have enough length to wrap correctly on the Post (almost - but some of the wrap would have been the tapered part of the string). So I am guessing I should have gotten the long neck tapered set of DR's? What say y'all?

I ended up running all the strings through the bridge versus the body - I assume there is no huge difference - although seeing this is my only through body Bass I was initially wanting to run them through the body (cause I can or could of).

So for those using DR's are you using the longer set - running through the body - or standard through the bridge.

In any case, the Bass plays better than ever and sounds killer with the new strings and setup - so I am Happy regardless. Thanks!

I always string all of my Lakie's through body with Hi Beams... never had any issue with them. The taper ends up starting about an 1/8" inch past the nut for me. Seems to work fine that way.

Sweet, thanks. I've been using Ken Smith slickrounds for ages and while I love them, I've been wanting to try something a tad bit brighter lately, but nothing overly harsh.

So I'm going back and forth between the Fat Beams and the Sun Beams

I almost went with the Fatbeams because of the added bottom - but stayed with the Hi Beams as I wanted to hear them first on the new Girl. Might do Fatbeams later.

Hm, with the brightness from the stainless aspect and the increased "low end" of the Fat Beams, they almost have a natural mid-scoop sound to them.

I think I may go with the sunbeams instead.
