Marty Bell is the master of the metal flake (he also did the finish on the BG5). Blocks certainly crossed my mind, but it's just cost prohibitive.

Super nice acquisition. I wish the pups were the same non-symmetrical form as the ones on the Fender, but I'm pretty sure that everything else would make me weak in the knees...

I was actually REALLY happy that they weren't. For some reason, the Fender pups just don't look right to me....

And that's his 55-94 Fretless on the left :)

So I've just installed a set of GHS Precision flats on my DJChi to replace the Fender Nickle Rounds I've been playing. Nothing wrong with the nickles but I've been toying with the idea of playing flats for a long time now but haven't taken the plunge until now. They sound and feel amazing, I am loving flats on a J style bass and I feel like the low mid thump I've been trying to eq in is there naturally now, very happy. Anyhow, my question is, "I was intending to adjust the truss rod with the new strings on to lower the action a bit but it seems the truss rod wrench that came with my DJ does not fit the truss rod. I've got a "pocket knife" set of allen wrenches so i was able to find one that fits but without the right angle it is difficult to get in there and turn the rod as the body of the bass gets in the way. Any one else have this problem? Shouldn't they be using the same size truss rod and wrench on all these basses?"

That is very, very strange that the wrench that came with your DJ didn't fit. In my experience, they're all the same--or maybe it's that the Skylines take one wrench and the US basses take another. I would shoot an email to or call Leo, he should take care of you on that.

They do...US are inches, and Skylines are metric.
