My wife is ultra low maintenance. I have been trying to talk her into spending on something....anything (I feel guilty for spending so much on my addictions...lol) I am glad she picked what she did....and I found out she got them like 75% off. WooHoo. She said that is the only reason she picked them.
Also Doude...I LOVE to cook. I am the primary cook in our family.

I really dig real people BBQ foods, pulled pork samitches, ribs, gourmet burgers, marinated prawn/scallop skewers & pancetta chicken are among the family favorites.
I also am know in these parts as the soup nazi of the norhtwest.

Well,stage one is complete.
Got this back on Sat and took it straight off to a gig. It sounded great and im happy i went ahead with it. While its not a Fender P it has a much thicker tone and its close enough.
Ive got the bridge pup on a push pull knob to take it out of circuit when not using it and this works well.
I really love the look of it now as well. I was going for a tort PG but black looks great. The pics really dont do it justice. I found it difficult to get any decent, reflection free shots tonight.
While this was going to be the end of it i now find the bridge pup is picking up a lot of RF noise. While i didn't expect to use it i found the two pups together made a nice tone. I believe this is the norm for a single coil pup although i never noticed it before.
So i guess ill now look in to getting a humbucking pup to go in the bridge position.
Also thought about a MM pup instead but not sure i want any more routing done.

Speaking of cooking....I would tell you how I saved for my first boutique bass after we first got married...but I dont think i would hear the end of it...lol

Dave, that looks great!!! One of a kind now.
Probably will need a humbucker in the bridge so it doesn't hum as bad when solo'd.

1) age is NOT an issue
2) get a job (suuport yourself so the gov't does not have to....well...that might be a lttle tougher in your country ...a little)
3) there are PLENTY of Decades left....you can get a good price on one (I am sure of it.....I know the right people)
GAS is a good thing.....it is a goal to work towards...without a goal, you might as wll be dead....I had a picture of a Lakland in front of me for almost 2 years before I ordered one......

I can finally join this club! I also picked up two 44-01s! those basses are highly underrated! I love them, pics to come, but here is a terrible pic of one:
These basses are truly the sound in my head, and I will never leave them! Laklands till my fingers fall off!

those -01s are sweet! I played a few yesterday (some stock, some with various pickups....)....all VERY nice...I agree...severly underrated!

Ive only played it for about 3 hours, mostly at last nights quiet gig but im very happy with it.
I can find fault, like the fact that the pup isn't dead on and is leaning a bit forward but its small things that really are only cosmetic. I guess its the thought that i had a £1200 bass cut up.
Im really glad i got the black PG. Tort would also have looked nice but the all black is more my thing.
I would rather not spend any more on it but i guess a Humbucker is needed. I didn't know about this before it wouldn't have stopped me.
Guess a Nordy would be the ideal partner to the NP5.
Were you at the factory? Did you play any NOS Inca Silver 55-01's with a 'Bound For Los Angeles" sticker on it?
NOT sure.......kinda like the contrast of the black knobs....but give me a few days and I think I will like it...what kind of position makrers? I MAY want to do that on a bass or two of mine...maybe....
