LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #28

My wife is ultra low maintenance. I have been trying to talk her into spending on something....anything (I feel guilty for spending so much on my addictions...lol) I am glad she picked what she did....and I found out she got them like 75% off. WooHoo. She said that is the only reason she picked them.

Also Doude...I LOVE to cook. I am the primary cook in our family.

Yeah...I have to talk my wife into stuff too. I keep telling her to go to Macy's, but she barely does.

So dave....that is YOURS!!!????? when did you get it????

Love the color.....

I thought you were "Lakland-less"...I guess not...

PS - Royce - was that your old one????

Yep Doug, picked it up from Royce this past year. I've just been slow on the pic process ("No pics = No bass") so I haven't been on top of reporting. I'll post a family pic soon - I just don't have the Hollowbody anymore, but I've got a great Lakland family right now!

Thanks.
Ive only played it for about 3 hours, mostly at last nights quiet gig but im very happy with it.
I can find fault, like the fact that the pup isn't dead on and is leaning a bit forward but its small things that really are only cosmetic. I guess its the thought that i had a £1200 bass cut up.
Im really glad i got the black PG. Tort would also have looked nice but the all black is more my thing.

I would rather not spend any more on it but i guess a Humbucker is needed. I didn't know about this before it wouldn't have stopped me.
Guess a Nordy would be the ideal partner to the NP5.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There's always something that is a little off. The black on black looks great though. With the block/binding, it is super sweet to tell you the truth.

If you like the PJ but that one is a little off for you, there are some others out there too. I've been thinking about one myself (MVPJ5) if I get the loot together.

hmmmm...here is question for my LOG buddies....I know in this market flipping houses is not a smart move for most. What about basses? I stumbled across a great deal on a black sparkle DJ4. It is in great shape, and a killer price. I do not need it since I have my non-ACDJ coming tuesday, but if the price is really that good, should I grab it and try to flip it?

Flipping in today's economy is tough.....it is low priced for a reason.....good luck if you try it....do not think you would make money on it......besides...you might like it and then what???? you would NEED a whole set in black (more possible than in Natural)......then you would have 3 sets....and you would be broke from all of the shoes and purses your wife would buy!

Thanks for letting it slip! Its a great bass, much more punch with the CHi's than the standard SC J-bass imo.

Sorry Evan - I traded the White PG to Markus for a cool black pearloid which will get on there someday too. (Guess I only have 3 pg's for it, overstated before).

Here's a pic of the other one that's not everyone's cup of tea:

kinda reminds me of a black light picture.....

This is the first PJ ive ever played so its early days but i do think ill like that tone more than i thought.
Ive never liked Jazz's and i did think it was a bit silly buying the DJ5 but i really love block and inlays. I knew i could sort the tone out but the look is what sold me.

All in all i am happy, just need to decide on a new bridge pup now. Ill give it a few gigs first though, i might get away with using the Lakland if its not buzzing too much, Im hoping it gets hidden by the rest of the band.

YEh BUT...she new the guy's name...my wife and "trendy" teenager did not.....so.....she MAY not be as low maintenance as she appears to be.....maybe she is just "waiting"....

I KNOW I spend more on my hobbies than my wife does...just look at my Lakie museum wall...

I also have a '56 Buick that needs work....all of the money uI put into Lakies should have gone into that...it would be a show piece by now.....

well....maybe not.,....all I could do it drive it...lakies are much cooler.....maybe???

I really dig real people BBQ foods, pulled pork samitches, ribs, gourmet burgers, marinated prawn/scallop skewers & pancetta chicken are among the family favorites.

I also am know in these parts as the soup nazi of the norhtwest.

you're talking my language!!!!!

come down to Austin dude.....we can cook for Friday evening.. I am sure we can round up a few grills.....
