lessseee... as of now, there are a few options... A passive US 55-CS fretless... a fretless 55-02 and a 55-01 (to be converted into a PJ5)... a fretless US Mike Lull M5 and a 55-01 (a PJ5-to-be)... a 55-01 with a US neck and two Big Singles (PJ5-to-be) and a skyline fretless... Daym, that's too many!

I bet I know what Markus will say :p

EDIT: Dangit, he beat me. Not surprised though

Nice dude. Love it. Congrats!!!!!:hyper:

Chis and flats are awesome! I'm sure it's very hard to hear the nice uppers Chis do with flats on crappy computer speakers. If you can't play one, you are going to have to trust the CLC (Chi-Love Coalition).

I do trust you guys, that's why I'm bringing this up. The thing is: what kind of sound will I get out of a passive 55-CS fretless? What kind of music will it fit best? That's what I'd like to know

No the BG5 is a killer! LOL. Honestly, I hardly even use the bridge pickup on my JO5 anymore (which is why I'm considering switching to a P/J), so I'm pretty glad I just went straight P on mine....

...so many customs ))
I'd get a PJ5 for the sake of the bridge J as I don't use the neck J much (mostly in a mix) and occasionally (but not that often) need a P ))

I'm not sure Lakland has built one yet, Denis. I do know Evan loves his fretless DJ-CS.

Well...my 4-07 in passive mode can do just about anything, and my JOCS fretless can do no wrong, but can't say first hand on a humbuckered ChiSonic rretless. I bet it works awesome though.

Guys i need some advice.
First off i have emailed Lakland and bestbass gear about this but thought i would ask here a si might get a quicker answer.
As you know my DJ5 is now in need of a hum cancelling bridge pup.
Im pretty set on getting a Nordy NJ5FS (and kirk has recommended this) but what size do i go for?
I measured the lakland pup i have and it looks like its 4". The two sizes the NJ5FS comes in are 4.1" and 3.97" (i think, its just under 4").
On the Nordy site it says the NJ5FS set will also fit the JO5 so i assume its fine for the DJ5 as well but if the bridge pup is 4.1" either im measuring mine wrong or it just wont fit.
Its probably me but i would have said the neck pup was closer to the right size.

Any comments etc?

Cheers.
Dave,
I think the 4.1" are the direct replacement for Fender basses. I think emailing Lakland and bestbassgear is your best choice

BTW, this morning I received an answer from Nordstrand
It particularly reads:
"The NP5 pickup can be mounted either way in the bass.
Any time you mix and split coil (like a P) with a single coil (like a classic/traditional J) there is a very good chance you will be dealing with noise. When the instrument has an odd number of strings (3, 5, 7, 9...) this becomes and even bigger issue. This is why Bartolini is such a popular make. All of their designs us bar magnets and they do not have to worry about lining pole pieces up with strings or even how many strings there are on a bass! But they do not offer vintage tone."

So getting a NJFS seems to be the choice if the noise is to big of an issue

Yes

Nice sid vicious lakland :D:D I kid I kid

I take that as a compliment - my punk rock roots are showing! I was probably thinking Paul Simonon at the time, but close enough.

And Greg - Evan and I have an ongoing 3-way with JO #26 (Tracy? Stacy? Spacey? ) so she goes back to him when he's ready.

Then? I'll be Gassing for a hollowbody with CHi's and Maple Neck Decade, but we'll see what happens. Its hard to let any of them go.
