In all seriousness, low tension compared to any other strings I have played, including flats. They had a nice tone, but there seemed to be noticeably less sustain than anything else I had ever tried. Slides down the fingerboard went silent after just a few frets.

I'd try them again on fretted bass if I could get some cheap, but I'd be hesitant to pay retail for new ones again.

well, actually I did twice... must have been too vague, that's my fault always :rollno:... I'm sorry

I am totally loaded and cocked to get and play her. She apperared as an effect of an interesting mock of life; but then I realized she was intended for me, because the 55 shapes, 5 string, fretless, ebony, passive, jazz, CS - these were various aspects of every single variant I was considering :) Also the killer deal that emerged out of nowhere just when I had the money - and that after a few nice deals that hadn't worked out!
As an afterthought, she deserved to be called Mockingbird :):):) But, Nessie is just it so such will be her monicker.
You have done A LOT for this to happen, so thanks a great lot Doude! Should've asked if you wished to try her out in the first place when she was still in the Chi-town, me bad...!

You're right in the B&B way, but so much gold is just too fussy for the european mind :D:D
As for Nessie, part of the task for Leo said it was a worker bass so it didn't need bells and whistles and could have any cosmetic faults. I would've been glad with a used/demo/parts bass as well. But in the end, it turned out for sooo much better! And the price, it just seals it.

So the TI's...are the tighter than rounds? I think for me, something that approached the tension of rounds is best. For reference, I string my jazz basses with Hi-beams, and play with a lighter touch. The Dunn has the Lakland SS strings on it right now, which I like since they are higher tension than the Hi-beams, at least for that bass. I don't konw that I'd want Chromes if they're a whole lot tighter than that, so maybe I should go with the TI's.

What's the tonal difference to you? I've heard the Chromes will deaden a good bit after a month or so and sound more like other flats.

You are saying you like the Lakland SS better than the Hi- beams cause they are higher tension so I vote chromes. I put TI's on my 2008 American P and liked them but they definitely are lower tension than most any stainless rounds of comparable diameter including Hi Beams. Chromes keep a slightly bright and sustained note but still sound like flats if that makes any sense and are high tension. (More than the aforementioned rounds) Funny cause on a Duck Dunn you should be puttin on Fender or La Bella flats and eatin BBQ chicken before you play to dull them boys out in short order! ( Duck Dunn on Freddie King's "get ready world") is bass bliss to me! I got my chromes on a trade bass and have been playin em as my primary for many months and still not dull.
