My LPB DJ5 came with TI Jazz Flats on it and they are pretty amazing. I have never really been a flats player, but I dig them. Also, PM to you about something :ninja:

I have to say, the Dunn has really grown on me, but when I pickup my DJ it just feels like me. I think I love and appreciate the DJ and DJ5 even more now that the Dunn is here. I don't think I could ever become a true P-bass guy. But hey, I am trying!

I like Chromes...I wish they were a little lower tension though...I wish TI's were a little higher tension:-)

I know that Pino puts TI's on his bass. I think I read that someone said the TI's are low tension, which I might like. I've also heard that the Chromes are zingy, but I wonder if they mean "zingy for flats". Surely they don't sound zingy compared to rounds.

I'm guessing that the Flats probably won't thrill me for too long, so I'll wind up just pulling them off a couple months later. I hate to spend $65 on the TI's and not leave them on there for more than that.

Chromes have a lot of top when new...and much as Rounds, but in a different way. But they calm down after a while...then last forever.

haha, you posted that while I was putting in my post. That echo's exactly what I've heard.

So the TI's...are the tighter than rounds? I think for me, something that approached the tension of rounds is best. For reference, I string my jazz basses with Hi-beams, and play with a lighter touch. The Dunn has the Lakland SS strings on it right now, which I like since they are higher tension than the Hi-beams, at least for that bass. I don't konw that I'd want Chromes if they're a whole lot tighter than that, so maybe I should go with the TI's.

What's the tonal difference to you? I've heard the Chromes will deaden a good bit after a month or so and sound more like other flats.

The TI's are a lower tension. That is very true, I wish they had a bit more tension.

Another vote for Chromes. I didn't care for the TI's when I had them on a fretless. They are sooooo low tension.
