LH-3, but I'm not Clark.

Any of you guys know the exact serial number cutoff for when they started plek'ing the Skyline basses? I'd heard it started around September of 2008, but I don't know how that correlates to the serial numbers. Thanks.
Can't say that I do. That sounds like the right month (or pretty close) for when they started using the Plek machine. I'm assuming you know Skyline serial numbers indicate the date of manufacture. Then again, something could possibly have been made and not Plek'd for a while.

Best impromptu eulogy ever:
"Ease our suffering in this,
our moment of great despair!
Admit this good and decent woman
into Thine arms and the flock...
..in Thine heavenly area up there.
And Moab he laideth down
behind the land of the Canaanites.
And, yea, though the Hindus speak of karma...
I implore you, give her a break."

Classic stuff!

We still call our minivan The Family Truckster.

Um, I mean the minivan my neighbors have. The one that blocks the view of my Ferrari. Ferraris.

In fact i have several Ferraris. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Terry - you goin' fretless again any time soon??? (he he he!!!)

PS: when you gonna load up the 'rack? I am anxious to see it.....

I almost fell off the fretless wagon too... started talking to Ferg aout his 44-01, but I came to my senses. Lets struggle with a 5 er and throw a fretless in to totally frustrate the dog out of me....

I havent heard from the web guy... as soon as I get info, I'll post 'em up!!

Rob:

Welcome! make sure to check out: Link Removed for more great info!

As for a 44-02, I owed a 44-02 fretless and still own a 55-02 (same but with 35" scale and 5 strings vs 4 strings)....what can you expect? well....where do I start? you can expect a nice J bass, a nice P bass and a nice MM bass all in one nice neat package....these basses have ALOT of versatility but you already know that!

Don't worry - as for being blown away, you are in good company! most of us were as well.....

as for the color combo...really one of my favorites....if Dan had not done the amber limited run, I would have ordered my 55-02 just as you described!

as for buying one, check with [email protected] He SOMETIMES has a few "b stock" basses that may have a minor ding or something else (usually very minor) that may save you a few dollars....

if you want more info, ask some more specific questions....

what type of music do you play?

Peace and again - welcome!!!

Doug

Thanks for the info. I've seen pictures of that amber finish. That would've been my first choice if it were still available. I play everything from prog to folk. That's why I was looking at the 44-02 and its wide range of tones. I also have an acoustic fretless that I use for bluegrass.

I'm assuming you know Skyline serial numbers indicate the date of manufacture.

I knew the first two numbers indicate the year of manufacture; does the rest of the number indicate something more specific about the date?

Mine's 08550468* (I think, I looked at it this morning but I'm not near the bass right now). So it was made in 2008 and I presume the "55" is because it's a 55-02 model. Does the "468" tell me something more about the month or week or production run it was made in?

* edit: oops, no, it's 08055486

The third and fourth numbers indicate the month it was made--so check that serial number again, hehe.
