LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #31

I had to read over 20 pages of #30 that I missed - you guys did a great job. Also had to look up "turd" in the dictionary... thanks!...well, not really :D

Now I have to read the pages of #31 that I missed...

As for the "turd" question, in my opinion, a rosewood neck reqires a matching headstock. The maple with black blocks is good because it gives some kind of visual balance. Maple with abalone blocks - no likey, lacks contrast.
Black PG is the choice

I knew I liked you for some reason...

here's some pics of me testing basses. We for some reason didn't get any bass building pics. I think it was because I was too excited.

Man, a great trip that you had!

as for the ad in first pic, the first line is written in noticeably larger words. That actually could be Dan's secret inner cry to the incessant line of visitors ;)

Like those red ones!

I suspect this is what Dan is leading to [inter alia]. Looks like there's more promo for the CS lately than there was for the LH3. I mean, the lettar are great (and I haven't personally tried the first ones yet), but there's something behind that... something like former making the LH3 pickups default for all kinds of basses (which also lessened the gap between the JO and DJ as some tell, made the BG sound differently etc.).

As they say, I may be paranoid but that doesn't mean I am not being followed...

The bass was a special order from someone, and the deal fell through. I was lucky enough to snag it. Besides the abalone blocks, it does indeed have the reverse P placement....why, I'm not sure, but it sounds great!!!!

As I said in another forum, being the dummy I am, I never noticed the reverse pickup placement until someone here on TB asked what was up!!!!

Cheers,
Shadi
someone's loss, your great gain
+1 on not noticing the difference ever. Shame on me, for I've had a P and two PJs!

I'm with ya Terry, 5'ers are a different breed that's for sure. They have their place in the stable, but 4 strings work fine for me :D

I will secretly admit that the japanese 4-94 I had was the best bass of all of my basses in terms of comfort, playability and sound. Yes, that means my US 55-94 too.

Haven't had the chance to play Nessie yet so that doesn't mean her.

Nice pics....the red 55-series bass is not "really" a 55-07....a 55-07 has double humbucking CHIs....that is kinda a dble J CS (with the singlc coil Js)....there are only 3 of those in the world (1 in Milwaukee, 1 in Russia - or soon to be there, and that one....)...those are HAWT basses!!!!

look slike a fun time...Dan is a really great guy!

yes, this should be the 55 Double J CS.
Also, each one of the three is unique - Midas has a rosewood fretboard, Nessie (still in transit between US and Russia) is ebony fretless, this one has a nice maple neck, not to mention the colors.

An overly simplified and likely butchered translation:

It's a 4 string passive bass with the new Chee Sonic pickups. Humbucker with a Single Coil sound. / it's a bass that looks alot like a Gibson Thunderbird, but there are some differences. / The bass comes in this red color, and I put the white pickguard on to make it look more interesting. / Not available in Sparkling Turd. / The controls are like a Jazz bass, but with different sounds. / This is Markus' hat. He doesn't know I have it. / The neck pickup has a very full sound. / With both pickups it has an interesting sound. / It's a bass best designed to play rock, among other things. And blues. / I'm using some of the bridge pickup but this is mostly from the neck pickup. / It's a Lakland Deecade and is available everywhere. / I wish they made a 5 string Skyline P-Bass.

I think I got most of it, but some of it doesn't seem right. :p

awesome!! :D
