LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #31

They both are going to be excellent...new strings? Who cares...strings can be, and will be changed. I'd go with the one that looks the coolest to you. That is something that is not a easy fix.
I agree with this. Also, Musicman, the '06 should have Aero pickups, which--from what I know--are a bit more aggressive than the Lakland pickups.

Here is one of the pics they sent....the 08 brand new DJ5 LPB with maple...

I cant access Carl's new website (damn work firewall)....so whats the story behind Carl leaving?? I am assuming it is an ammicable departure. Also, is Carl opening a repair shop or will he be building custom basses.

The LOG board has the full story. It's going to be a repair shop; he may do some custom work down the road.

ETA: It is definitely an amicable departure. In fact, Carl is still going to be working from his bench in Lakland's shop.

Here are a few more photos.

Back of the headstock (note the first year use of just Crafted in and not Designed in). I removed the sticker and you can see the neck tinted with age. Now I have a small pale patch where the sticker was. I guess that will get better with time :)

I cant access the LOG board either....it's considered a social networking site. The firewall prevents that. Oddly enough, I can access TB:confused: I will check out the LOG on an unrestricted network after work. I am pleased to hear the split was ammicable. One more thing, is Carl's shop going to be in the city or the burbs'. I do not know if Carl is a city dweller or lives in the burbs'.

I am both sad and pleased at the same time to hear about Carl. I am pleased to see him go so he can branch out and do his own thing. He is talented tech who brings a great deal to the table for Lakalnd. I am sure he will be extremely succesful on his own and I wish him the best of luck.

However, everytime I have gone to the shop my interactions with Carl have been nothing short of a positive experience. He is part of the equation that accounts for the excellent customer service rap' people rave about when rergading Lakland. For that, I am sad to see him leave. I hope Lakland finds a good replacement. I know he will still be there....but for how long??
