talked to Carl about that this last weekend....it is a "NO GO!"....sounds like a 5er might put too much pull on the body top....
BTW - GUS: THANKS MUCH for the CHI-P and Nordy 5 sound clips.....for those of you who want to hear the comparison, go here:

No danger of that, Gus (sorry). We were talking to Carl about that on Saturday (Doug was asking) and he said the biggest issue is getting a decent B string sound. It sounds like it's extremely difficult to do.
Please don't make a 5 string!!!! I have already planned my next 2 Laklands after the LOG and the 'other' bass!

the headstock has this sweet older patina to it that would be a shame to cover up, but I might do the pick guard.....although the look is "complete" with the headstock....

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself here, but I just wanted to drop a line and say I have a LOG membership pending!
Liked a Skyline JO, but then also played a 44-02 on two separate occasions (must've played about 15-20 different basses over the course of 6-8 visits to music shops). After the 2nd 44-02 demo, I plunked down a deposit on a deluxe w/ a natural quilted maple top. Pretty basic & subdued color scheme, but I love the way it looks, feels, and sounds.
Will post pics and request "official" membership when I pick it up.
