I like your's Jody, Carl's is too round, bulbous if you will, but I think the curve on both sides should be the same. It looks lopsided.
Definately go with yours, that one makes it look like a Fleabass
It pains me to say that
Looks good, but do you think you could make the bottom curve meet the neck in the same spot as the top?
Carl sent me the one on the left as a first rough draft, so to speak. He wanted my feedback and reshaping ideas, possibly involving shipping his template back and forth....
I figured it'd be easier to buy a '70s Stingray pickguard and blend Carl's and the SR's shapes, to get what I was looking for.
My posterboard pickguard is laying on top of the Stingray guard so you can see the mods.
The 4-76 has a deeper cut lower horn and the volume knob was too close to Carl's and the SR guard's edge. I've been working on this for about an hour and a half. So what do you guys think?

I can do that, make it even, but I purposely made it that way.
I believe that there's a Musicman bass, Sabre maybe (??) that is cut at the neck that way, and I liked it when I saw it...
+1. I didn't notice until you said it, but now I think it would look better that way. Just my two cents.
Well, that was Carl's first cut, and I didn't even know he was doing it for me, so he kinda went w/ his gut. Nothing but appreciation for him from me... He was ready to reshape it for me, all I had to do was call him. I just figured my way would be easier.
Because the bass has the DS route and the MM pup route too. It requires a guard when the DS is not installed.
I'm not fond of the little square PG piece.

Haha, well the DS sounded great w/ flats but just wasn't a sound that worked w/ either of my bands. The SD pup works VERY well w/ Third Obsession

Are you sold on the StingRay-looking guard? Any thought of something different/unique, or a variation of a traditional SR guard? I don't know why, but I have never liked SR guards. Not that I wouldn't take a Lakland that had one on it, just trying to play devil's advocate here....
