Hey, that guard is cut a little "off" at the neck too, just a little.
Yeah...but the bottom par at least rounds the corner. Much harder to tell on the bass when the points of reference are covered.
Me too. I noticed it on the bass more than when it was on top of the other guard. The neck brings out the difference.

How much would it cost me to either pull my frets out and fix them or get new frets and place them?
Also i've heard about this kinda thing where upper frets buzzed being fixed by a truss rod adjustment, any ideas on this?

Chances are that if the upper frets are buzzing the neck has a slight backbow and by loosening the truss rod a little you could correct it. You should also watch Carl's Lakland set up vid on youtube. It may be on the LOG site as well. It's a pretty simple process to set up your own bass and will save you a lot of $ over the years.
Thanks. I've been a huge Beefheart fan since he was still actively making music. Had tix to see him once but the show was cancelled. I have most of his and also your avatar and just about all of the other Minutemen discs on vinyl. Both bands are easily in my top five.

. I'll make it look more balanced, even though (like I said) it doesn't raise any flags at all to my eye 
.I talked w/ Carl earlier, he's got my fretless 55-02 put together.
He went a LONG way to make up for my pickup woes w/ Shadowfax, even though he didn't need to. What a guy!! He sanded the fretboard to make it like new and get rid of some un-evenness (sp??), oiled it up, etc etc... all for almost half what he originally quoted. He's definitely going to get ALL my repair business from now on, well that was secured already anyways, but .Leo said it was nice and lightweight, too WOOHOO!!

Watch Carl's setup videos, give it a try, DO NOT PULL OUT THE FRETS!!! I've done that... NOT GOOD!! If you can't get it right, send it to Carl, PERIOD. You won't regret it!
Thanks. The fretless neck is a Korean, the body is a new Indonesian. They don't match up perfectly, slight gap in the back of the pocket, IIRC, but it's a nice solid connection w/ no wiggling. I think I'll get all black hardware installed and get a black 3 layer MM style guard for it. It'd look a little like Aaron's old 55-02, back when he was on the 3TB w/ black guard kick

UPS lost his neck again, FOR THE SECOND TIME!!! We think it's the local crew down there in Alabama. But, it's just so hard to believe that they'd lose it AGAIN, after all that hassle.
Pat ended up using his CAR color sample to do my headstock.
Anyways, let's keep our fingers crossed for Aaron.
