LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #43

Well, my DJ5 just arrived at Lakland headquarters. It hadn't seen much playing time for a while since I got my 55-02D early last Fall. And before that, I noticed it fretting out on the A string in odd places, but didn't seem to play all that bad otherwise (or maybe I'm just that oblivious :eyebrow:). Never thought to look down the neck 'til I saw the one post on the LOG about a JO with a twisted neck. Sure enough.

Anyway, I contacted Dan a month ago yesterday about getting a new neck possibly and he offered to replace the neck (they happened to have another Black DJ5 neck, fortunately) and set it up at a minimal (much, much less than what it should) cost... which he obviously didn't have to do seeing the bass was certainly out of the warranty period. Amazing.

So, due to a number of travel/family/time-absorbing issues over the past few weeks and the lack of a box to ship, I was unable to send the bass out until this week. Reading the Lakland news earlier this week made me a bit nervous, I must say. I guess my timing couldn't have sucked much more given all the changes there, but I trust things will work out fine. We'll see if the deal holds up... even if I have to pay more, I guess I don't really mind... I expected to anyway.

I know most everyone here already knows or has experienced the Dan Service™, but I just wanted to share and go on public record to say that Dan rocks. He's always been a great help and provided service far beyond what I ever expected whenever I've dealt with him.

And, even though it hasn't seen much playing time as of late, I already miss my DJ5 sitting in the corner of my space with my other basses. There's a hole. I hope she makes it home soon and all fixed up. :bawl:

great post!
keeping fingers crossed for your bass as part of our today/tomorrow
"the Dan Service™" - that's instant classic and a historical level for Lakland. Let's hope and see.

difference in translation...same meaning.....can you type that out in Russian for us? I am really interested to see the actual verbiage used....

sure thing. It is:
'ты жжошь!' (in writing it usually goes in a set with a deliberately misspelled vowel, "о" instead of "ё")
Can you actually see this? The letters might look as hieroglyphs to you if you don't have the font

Yeh - I guess he did...

a hem! (throat clearing noise).....

young Jedi....one does not call a Jedi master more than twice his age "Dougie"....that is reserved for other Jedi masters of equal or greater class (as if any of us have any "class")......OK - well and drinking buddies......and Randy.....and John.....well...OK....

:D

Did he really say Dougie?:eek::D

cool! thanks!

so - you deliberately misspell it? noyce!

I just wanted to know if it looked "SMOKIN" or not.....I have always found your alphabet fascinating!
