Nice job on the interview, Markus! I've done some radio stuff over the phone for work, and it takes some getting used to.
Also, nice to see the host had a non-crazy person on his show for once.![]()

JJ - we all know that sometimes we have to do some things we "don't want to do" to do things we want to do....(e.g. EVERY bass player hates some song(s) the band plays, we have to do work related things we don't really "like" to make $$$$ etc).
here is my opinion (as a friend - and of course you DON'T have to take it - BUT you KNOW that already!)
they have decided on you not the "screamer" yet.....at least that is the impression I got from your post.....if you become a member of the band, you MAY have some choice in the singer....
Whatever way they go with the singer, play with them for a few gigs and see how you gel with them and the singer....if it gets "too bad" after a month or so (or a few gigs, etc - whatever goal you give yourself) then have a conversation with the "leader" of the band....interacting with them for a while will also allow you to figure out who really has the control....
if you can't stand the singer, tell them it is not working out and why and then let THEM decide which way to go.....I would bet a "decent"' singer will be easier to find than a well oiled, talented bass playa' like yourself!
I bet they stick with you.....if not, then leave...chalk it up to experience and have fun along the way!!!
Pat is done with his magic.....Carl will have it by Monday.....I should have pics up sometime next week

She was very understanding about it. She had reservations about buying me the Skyline Osborn 5 as a wedding present because she knows of my preference for active basses.
Beaver Felton, Bass Central's owner and I have been personal friends for years. Our band's frontman used to be Beaver's frontman "back-in-the-day."
My band had been playing at Pleasure Island in Orlando's Downtown Disney for years. On the day of one of our Disney shows, my wife (who was then my fiance) and I stopped into Bass Central and I spotted a beautiful natural/white mint pickguard/rosewood Skyline Joe Osborn 5 and fell in love with it when I played it. We left and I dropped her off at her apartment. I went to set-up/soundcheck prior to the show and she shows up carrying a Lakland bass case and presents it to me. I open it up and there was the Skyline Osborn 5; I was floored.
I kept it for a few months and one day I went back to Bass Central and A/B'd it with a 55-01 natural/rosewood and preferred the 55-01. I'd had it too long for it to be a return but I traded it for the 55-01 which from that point on we considered it to be the wedding present bass. Just last week I sold it to a good friend of mine and I replaced it with my new 55-01 black/rosewood (I like it in black better.) As long as I have a 55-01 my wife's okay with it.
The first anniversary present was a 55-01 natural lined fretless which I loved but didn't end up using very much so she was also supportive in my selling it to get a EBMM Bongo 5 single H.
Here's a few pics from Pleasure Island in Orlando's Downtown Disney which unfortunately has since closed down. I love the second pic which shows the large screen behind me while I'm center-stage fronting the band. In these pics I'm playing my original EBMM Bongo 5 HH.

Very nice, any chance of some sound clips?
Probably a Spector...
can't you just play down a fret? jus' wonder'in...

Well, my doorbell rang about 10 minutes ago... ran downstairs and was surprised to see a bass-sized box at my door. Whoa... holy turnaround time! As I posted earlier in this (or possibly the previous) thread, I sent it in for a twisted neck repair/replacement about a week and a half ago.
Opened the case a few minutes ago, and it's just like new bass day.
Brand new neck (dare I say, much nicer than the previous even), all PLEK'd up (my first experience with a PLEK'd bass, btw) and beautiful. Wow.
Hats off to John and crew. He held to the deal that Dan offered me without question/issue and delivered in exceptional fashion. I'm very, very pleased.
Thought I'd share this as soon as I could to help expel any of that "not so sure about the new guys" worry that has been floating around since things changed over a couple weeks ago. I'm glad to say that, at least in this instance... and I have reason to believe that it won't hold up in future for others dealing with the "new" Lakland... it's all good <<insert 2 thumbs up here>>
