I do have some new DA XL170SL nickels I could put on, but I think I'll just leave the lakland nickels on for now.

They have a silver wrap right? If so...those are steels.

The lakland strings that came on the bass have a wrap I'll call grey on the tuner end, but I reckon you could call silver...yeah, sure...

They don't have the green tint here in the states

Laklands ARE 35" right? Cause my long scale strings tapered before the nut as I tried to setup just before I decided to sell it. It was through the bridge.

Yep. You need XL's to through-body on a fiver.

Yeah well I had D'Addario Long Scale - states specifically on the website 34 - 36"

All of my strings tapered before the nut. I was going through the bridge, not the body.

Oh well, it'll be gone tomorrow.

And why don't they sell anythign other than B in XL then?

It specifically states "34 to 36 D'Addario Long"

I'm pretty safely assumpting the active version of Midas and Nessie would be the 55-63 CS

Seen it in an older catalog:
55-JJ (or, double J) - passive
55-63 - active
The 55-07 implies humbucking pickups and coil tapping, right?

Right, that's what I was talking about. There have been no active single-coil Chi-equipped basses with this body style, to my knowledge.

*To clarify for those not in the know, "coil tapping" in this case refers only to single-coil vs. humbucking operation for both Chisonics at the same time. It's not possible, due to the bar magnets, to run one Chi as a single and the other as a humbucker at the same time.
