Hi, Does anyone know where I can find a Lakland 55-02 Deluxe fretless in stock?

I sent email to Bass Central and the asnwer was:
"I just heard back from Lakland, it will be mid-late September (at the earliest) before there are anymore 5502 fretless available… sorry"

That could be a tough one to find. I think you were given advice earlier in the thread to contact Leo Lopez at Lakland ([email protected]) If you haven't done that, give him a try--he's your best bet. In the past, he has had a "B-stock" fretless or two lying around. Good luck!:)

Sorry to hear that...check with Leo....

another option might be to find a 55-02 you like and see if Leo (Lakland) has any spare fretless necks they woud be willing to sell.....I have seen spare necks there from time to time....

That's a sweet 55-02, congrats! I know a couple guys have changed the knobs on their 55-01s to metal ones and they came out great. I can't recall who, though. "Supertanker" may be able to help you, shoot him a PM.

BTW, come on over to Link Removed for more Lakland info and discussion. There's a recent thread there about 55-02 settings.:)

Mmm... gonna go out on a limb here and vote for the original knobs. I hate plain knobs with no indicator line... that's why I found adequate replacements for the black metal ones that came on my -01 basses. Saved me close to a pound in weight as well... those metal knobs are heavy! But if you're going that route, go with black ones.

Well it's very late and I just got back from my round of weekend gigs in Gulfport, MS with the 55-01 I received a couple days ago. I LOVE it so far; sounded thick and righteous through my MarkBass/Epifani rig going through the house. Tons of punch and clarity, while still retaining an old-school presence. I'm even digging the halfrounds that came on it-nice warm tone and still enough snap and treble to cut through, even with slap. Giving my calluses a nice workout too. This is definitely a "swiss army knife bass", can cover alot of genres. This bass kills and I've had alot of love/hate relationships with fivers. The wide string spacing and flat board really agree with me. I've definitely caught the buzz about Lakland! I'll post some pics after I get some much needed rest. Cheers!
