Removed the J-Retro and it's passive now. Volume (pull for 'series'), Blend, ToneStyler. Love it!!!

How do you like the series setting?

Well gentleman, got my first Lakland in the mail today. It's an earlier 55-01 in candy apple red w/ the small gotoh tuners. Feels great, looks near mint and only weighs about 9 lbs. All of my gigs this weekend are out of town but I'll hopefully be able to take some pics after that. Sidenote, got a lakland HSC out of the deal, it's also got some D'Addarion halfrounds on it. Not sure how i feel about these, I'll have a better idea after the weekend. Cheers!

From what I've heard about halfrounds, I don't think I'd like 'em.... interested in hearing what you think.

A Chi with no hum would be my first choice, but I very happy with the Neo Punch.

Lately it been both P's and some hollowbody the most.

Lakland's pickups (Chi, Neo, whatever)... just KILL!!

I've ONLY had that happen on my Hipshot Ric replacement bridge, which came w/ 1 intonation screw that was too short. They promptly sent me some extra screws to fix the issue--- love their customer service!

I'm curious, and I can't tell from your pic.... I wonder if your saddle screws didn't get swapped around (from right-handed to leftie)?

I just checked my 2 US 5ers and the B and E string saddle screws are the 2 shortest, the A is slightly longer, and the D and G screws are longer than the A. If the guys at Lakland forgot to "reverse" your bridge, then you could DEFINITELY have problems w/ the D and G saddles falling off the ends of the screws.

Good point. But, aren't the saddles' grooves of different width? Mine are. Well, they are not gradual, but are like "wider" and "narrower"

remember seeing on ebay a fretless Glaub PJ in natural satin finish. Has anybody some photos of that bass that they can share.

that is nice....nicer that I thought it would look.

I'm NOT an expert at all on bass guitars, in fact I've just recently mastered the art of using the tuning machines (who knew those funny silver things at the end of the neck WEREN'T to hang mardi gras bracelets off of...my band likes me SO much better now) so please don't take this as anything other than a simple, dumb(er than the last one) question.

When I flip what I'm calling the the "dark-switch", (mwhahaha) the tone is DRASTICALLY darker...

Would a series switch do this?? It isn't the same sound as as "rolling the tone off" on both pickups, but its close...the tone is different in all 3 pickup positions and sound to me like a punchier, lowmid-boosted, tone roll-off.

Consider me forever banned from the forum if I've just taken a dumb question and up'd the anti with a follow-up dumb question.

(in hindsight, contacting the guy who I purchased this from (and who subsequently ordered the beast this way from lakland) might have been a good idea...)

I believe I know some one who has a dark switch on his Decade...Pm me and I can get you in touch with him.

QUESTION: I'm having trouble with the bridge screws backing out and dropping the bridge pieces. We used to use nail polish back in the day, but I don't want it to look funky. What do you guys use (if anything)?

Was at Cream City in Milwaukee if I remember correctly....try searching their site or e-bays older listings....

I was thinking of going for that one myself but I think it only had 4 strings!!

I finally received (had to wait two weeks via Germany) my Lakland USA BOB GLAUB 5 string #01. I guess this is the first 5 string BG made. It is truly more than I expected. I installed a brand new set of TI Flats (highly recommend) extra long scale so I could string thru the body. Huge fat tone, buttery low action, barely weighs 8 pounds, gorgeous fiesta red, insane rosewood board. I've owned everything, when it comes to tone, playability, and actually sitting in a real band mix (that doesn't mean triple tap slap sh****t) Lakland is tough to beat.

Congrats!!!! I've got the BG5 Prototype, and I agree 100% with the description! I've yet to try flats on it, but might once the LOG basses show up.
