Yeah..talked to Carl about that...almost went for it on my Decade, but decide to stay traditional. Totally killer though! One of th ebest looking Skylines in my opinion.
Yeah it's cool, reminds me of those 3 pickup SG's. I still prefer the "traditional" 2 pickup look on the Decade though
I really want a Decade, haha. In time I will have one

That tri-sonic (great name for a triple Chi, BTW) has me thinking...

but I hate single coil hum! Which should be an issue with all 3 pups ON at the same time, right?
hmmmmmm..... I think I could REALLY dig a tri-sonic w/ a couple of switches so that I could pick which pair of pups to run at once. Or just maybe have a pull knob to kill the middle pup and have it wired (like the neck pup) to hum cancel w/ the bridge pup.... And, you guys have heard a million times how I love 2 singles ran in series!!

Sorry to interrupt the awesome picture fest which I peruse each and every day! (wow...there are some HOT lakland basses out there)
My Lakland DS hollowbody has a "dark switch", (term stolen from the review of the bass linked on laklands site) which is in place of the "humbucker/coilswitching" switch on the bart/chisonic HB. The review on the lakland site says it an addition of a "capacitor".
I don't care what it is, I use the switch constantly. It provides to my ear the BEST "tone roll off while GAINING PUNCH" sound I've heard in my basses...
Which brings me to my question...is this a proprietary switch? Can it be purchased and added to an alternate bass (franken-p, lakland DD, etc)?
Does anyone know what this capacitor is? I suppose I could pay for some bench time at the local luthier, but before I do, I thought I'd give this thread a shot.

I'm NOT an expert at all on bass guitars, in fact I've just recently mastered the art of using the tuning machines (who knew those funny silver things at the end of the neck WEREN'T to hang mardi gras bracelets off of...my band likes me SO much better now) so please don't take this as anything other than a simple, dumb(er than the last one) question.
When I flip what I'm calling the the "dark-switch", (mwhahaha) the tone is DRASTICALLY darker...
Would a series switch do this?? It isn't the same sound as as "rolling the tone off" on both pickups, but its close...the tone is different in all 3 pickup positions and sound to me like a punchier, lowmid-boosted, tone roll-off.
Consider me forever banned from the forum if I've just taken a dumb question and up'd the anti with a follow-up dumb question.
(in hindsight, contacting the guy who I purchased this from (and who subsequently ordered the beast this way from lakland) might have been a good idea...)

Hanson Split Neo Punch in bridge position on PJ. My thoughts:
vs ChiSonic: Surprisingly almost as thick. Doesn't quite have that single coil flavor/personality, but can get pretty riled up for sure!
vs Fralin: punchier...more aggressive, hotter.
