I have a "like new" Skyline JO5 CS Tobacco Burst if interested...

I disagree with UPS Claims. I shipped a rear bumper to someone in Cali several years ago. Simply wrapped it in newspaper and bubble wrap. Added insurance at the UPS hub (not store) here in town. They totally damaged the bumper. IT took several weeks to get the money I insured it for, but I got it. Sure they asked how it was packaged... I simply stated that the clerk saw the package and sold me the insurance, I wasn't playing that game. She was the one that told me I was good to go with the way it was packaged.

Never give up. Besides, All UPS packages receive $100 of coverage by default, not much when it comes to replacing a neck. However, $100 is $100 more than nothing.

If you have not already done so, call and report the damage ASAP!

GOOD PLAN!!

One thing I learned... sorta off topic in a way, but... is that if you say "one of a kind" they will NOT insure it. Because they say it's NOT replaceable so UNinsurable. :hmm:

Thats messed up.
I WAS going to sell it right away.

I've already been a week and a half without a bass :hmm:

Brian at the LowEnd BassShop received a Skyline 5502 last week and the headstock was broken and neck was spit half way down. Of course, UPS delivered. I notice the box all beat up, so I went to open and neck was broken in same direction the box was bent.
I use to work for ups and around this time, we would get so much volume, we made everything fit, no matter what.

Nooooooooooooo! John, I'm so sorry to see this! Jeez, I hope you get this resolved quickly.

If you get down this way, I'll be happy to loan you one of mine till you get a replacement.

Thanks Greg. Something tells me this will not be a quick process.
I probably have a better shot at getting my LOG bass then getting this resolved

Damn.:( You're probably right, especially with the holidays. My offer stands.

BTW, did you get Chibuckers or just put the singles in the big housing?

I got singles in the big housings.
Bo had them in stock from a cancelled order

I just noticed in the picture. The plastic is still on the pickguard

I'm in mourning for that headstock. Just realizing that I've been dodging bullets with all the basses I have shipped/have been shipped to me this year. hard-shell case? $100 or so of insurance.

I've never had an issue w/ UPS. But, I've also never shipped or had a valuable bass sent without a hardshell case.

I actually shipped it to them the same way it was shipped to me. Never had an issue.
Carl is putting on a new neck.
I'm told the boxes that are used do not meet UPS standards

I've talked a lot w/ UPS, having shipped probably 50 or more instruments over the last 10yrs, and their requirements are pretty hard to meet. I insure them anyways, in hopes that it'd help should an accident occur.
