I just received a black 44-02 with a maple fretboard. I'd post a pic, but it's going to Pat Wilkins for a refinish in candy tangerine, as soon as he gets back tome. THEN, I'll take pics. 
My 55-60 is on its way to Holland as we speak!

I can't tell by the mock-up if the tort is more brown or red.

It's still up in the air... Too many choices, but I have a feeling it won't be subtle. I love my metal flake JO and what it looks like on stage, but I also love the idea of this bass in Sonic Blue. Heck, the other night after watching Purple Rain (again), I was even pondering purple metal flake after seeing a blocked neck one in his band, lol. I have a few days to decide, so a lot can happen

I saw a Hawaii Blue Strat on TV (original Fender color).
I had never seen that color before and now it's stuck in my head...

I'm not crazy about what marketing does to language, either, but this name doesn't strike me as egregious. Now if they'd called it 44-60 Kustom, that would sound cheap.
I can't think of a good alternative offthe top of my head. 44-60 Blocks Binding Matching Headstock and Jazz-Width Neck doesn't roll off the tongue too smoothly.
I dunno. They could have gone with 44-60 Deluxe, 44-60 Slimline, 44-60 BB, 44-60 JN or something else. The issue is that those are *not* custom basses, so the model name is an outright lie. I know that Lākland isn't alone in doing this. The word 'custom' is being bandied about incorrectly by so many brands that it's almost useless to mention it, but it still drives me crazy.
I hate that numbering system.
I think with a little thought they could have come up with a much better naming scheme.
In the future there will be more numbers and more confusion...
