yup...youa re right...Skylines are now Black...US are tweed....VERY nice cases! VERY NICE!

Dan .....if you get a new bass, I will trade your tweed for one of my "never used...sit in closet" cream cases....

I don't think they use those anymore. I think they are black or tweed now.

they are indestructible....or close to it....and they DO hold the bass fairly steady....

Wow that stinks...that is like a US Lakland trademark.
The white cases are so cool.
Maybe not the best thing for someone gigging with them.
But for someone collecting them, they look amazing.

My only complaint with the Lakland US Cases is that they really are not all THAT "Fitted"....
I think for the $$$ the US basses command, the cases should be made for that specific model and fit like a glove around the bass inside.

I'm just used to a unity gain in my other basses I guess. No worries. I had my first gig with the 44-02 last night and I'm ready to sell my other basses and get another 44-02. This bass killed with the amp eq FLAT. Its SO comfortable to play. The 44-02 covered every bit the tonal spectrum that I needed just buy using the coil switch and pickup blend knob. If you know anyone who wants a USA Ibanez ATK and a practically new Carvin LB70P, let me know.

Not every Lakkie is for everyone. For instance, I generally like Lakkies, but the HB is one of the ones that don't move me at all. If it doesn't fit and you can't see yourself using it for other projects, there's nothing wrong with flipping it -- especially if it goes to someone who'll get weak in the knees over it.

Well I know an HB with darkstars is not a typical match for such a bright string.
BUTTTTTTT!
Man this thing is a whole new bass!
No longer the thudding bass it was.
It now growls very VERY snotty and has such a killer mean tone that I wanted for it.
The HB bass and dark stars are normally deep and leaning towards the "dark side" ....so the brighter strings balance really well!
Super pleased I tried this!!

Well maybe, but black Sharpie ink actually has blue in it and has a weird sheen so it would not look right on a dark brown/black background. It would also come off on your fingers.

I thought about a 55-02, but as funny as it sounds I don't like odd numbers. Really, I would never use the "B". I have had 5 and 6's in the past but, alas, I'm a 4 stringer. The 44-02 just does everything that I want tonally, it's literally the tone and feel that I have been searching for over the 24 years I have been playing. It my new standard for comparison. The only down side is that the previous owner did not use a corrosion inhibitor on the saddles and adjustment screws and they are rusted and fused and cannot be adjusted so I have to order new ones on Monday, I hope that they are not too expensive.I may keep my Carvin. I have A/B'd all of my basses to day and the Carvin is VERY close to the 44-02 with more of a hifi flavor. Sadly, my hand made Warwick Streamer is the furthest away from what I want tonally so it's on the sales block even though it plays incredibly well. I though about buying Barts to see if that would help, but in the end decided against it. Lakland has me in it's grasp...maybe a 44-AJ, how's it compare to the 44-02?

Before you toss the old bridge, try some Barkeepers Friend on it. I have successfully used it to remove rust and other deposits on metal. Also, try some good old WD-40 as well on the screws to see if you can get them loose first, then clean everything up with the Barkeepers Friend. Get the liquid and wipe it on with a paper towel, let sit for no more than five minutes and wipe it off. You can also rinse it off with water, but then use some rubbing alcohol to evaporate all the water.

That's it. I'm getting into my black helicopter...

The surface rust is not really the issue, the height screws, 5 of 8 were so corroded that they (the one that I tried) became brittle and rounded off after a good long soak in wd40. There is no getting around replacing the saddle assemblies. Oh well.

Yea Ferrari red, is my favorite color...
THAT is what I really want...
But was thinking could settle on the stock CAR color to make it less money.
Honestly, who knows? I do not have anything I could let go of...maybe in the not to distant future I will change my mind? Who knows? Need spend more time with the Decade to see if that would be what I would really want to lay down for?
Honestly I would rather have a custom 44-07 in ferrari red if they would make one of those....

I can say that the ebony neck is a WONDERFUL thing!

I was plyaing my CB550 again tonight (first time since Th night)...

the ebony has a great "sharp tone" without being too brittle or "zingy" sounding...

i love it! been trying to figure out my "favorite" tone setting....there are so many!

she sounds BETTER than she looks!!!

do it Dan...4-6 months is WORTH the wait (it will also allow you time to sell stuff....I think you only need like 1/2 down or so!)

call Leo and get it going!

Hi all you Lakland lovers. Allow me to indulge in a short story if if I may.
I've been playing the same bass (a Fender Jazz 4 string) for 13 years. I've never really wanted anything else until recently. I'm joining a top 40 R&B band and found out that there are many songs that require those lower notes. I remember Stu Hamm telling me about 20 years ago that in LA it would be hard to get a studio gig unless you play a 5 string. I don't live there so I wouldn't know but I could understand why. Anyway I started looking and decide to pick up a Lakland. I picked one up through TB classifieds. I never played one before but they came highly recommended. So anyway, I was a little worried about getting use to the wider neck and all that since I never played a 5er for more then 5 minutes at a time before. I picked up a 55-02. Wow what a nice bass. It sounds great and the action is awesome. I'm very pleased and after playing it about 6 hours a day for 5 days, I've become a Lakland fan. The preamp is good. I hate cheap electronics. The PU are good. The string spacing is perfect. I can still get my fat fingers and thumb between the strings to thump as i see fit. For the money I can't see a better value out there anywhere.
I thought I'd share.
