I managed to get one of the last remaining white lakland case they had with my US lakland in may 2011. Very lucky!
People go WOW at the sight of my case.
The new ones look yucky imo.

They usually take around 7 months to build a US lakland.
Id love to get an ebony board.
Ebony is getting more precious to acquire i hear.
I love the ebony pickup covers on my lakland :)

I really like the white cases.
Truly unique to the brand.
The should have kept them at least as an option.
Branding is what it is all about.
And their basses deserve a cool signature case.
Especially for people who lay down the big bucks for a new one.

I have been told by several, 4 months?
If I where to lay out for a new ordered Lakland it would have to be either a super highly figured birdseye maple board as a second choice or the ebony as the first choice.
Yes Ebony is for sure getting more difficult to find nice pieces.

Get a Skyline then....all fretli come with ebony fretboard. Carl at Lakland said that ebony is no big deal and not all that expensive all things considered....adds like 15 bucks to their cost.

I'm sitting here plunking away on the ebony as I type....very nice fingerboard on a fretless Skyline 55-01. I got mine in a month, but they said they had a few coming into stock. (Oct 09).

My 44-02 is fantastic, but it's a backup to my Classic Stingray. It can't get the slap sound that the Ray has, but the Lakland can do a better P bass and J bass sound.

So it will just chill and be a fun bass to own and have around.

Yeah I played one at a music store for about 10 seconds... totally not me. But, I'm a hard rock and funk kinda guy.

Yea I am into hard rock as well.
Some alternative rock like Bush, Rage, Janes Addiction.
Will not play this HB much for that stuff.

But then again, after sticking these DR Highbeams I had laying around on it, it sounds like a whole different animal.
It really allows the Dark Stars to voice themselves across the band more.
Amazing mids and growl now.
Not just one tone, like with the flats that came on it.

US Lakland order times can vary substantially depending on what you order and how busy they are at the time. I got my surf green Glaub in exactly 5 months. It would have been a little quicker if I hadn't asked them to wait for a relatively light alder body and hadn't gotten abalone blocks.

There are custom builders who take a good bit longer...

Exactly!
I would never have thought the Highbeams would sound good on this HB. But had them sitting in the closet and gave them a rip.
Amazing different in the bass.

My hollowbody has the Chi-Sonics. Either way, the tonal range on this bass from flats to rounds is really something else. They are definitely not one trick ponies like so many hollowbodies are.

I can say that the ebony neck is a WONDERFUL thing!

I was plyaing my CB550 again tonight (first time since Th night)...

wowsa! I do not want to put her down!

the ebony has a great "sharp tone" without being too brittle or "zingy" sounding...

i love it! been trying to figure out my "favorite" tone setting....there are so many!

she sounds BETTER than she looks!!!

do it Dan...4-6 months is WORTH the wait (it will also allow you time to sell stuff....I think you only need like 1/2 down or so!)

call Leo and get it going! :D
