Not all that worried about a bass once it lands here safely...
Not like I am out on the road weekly with it.:D
I just think the white cases are killer looking. bored with the same ole black that every bass company uses.

oooops, sorry Bart,(Kinetic) did not mean to diss Black stuff...hahaha!!

Don't worry Dan...NOTHING would happen to a Lakie in those cases!

they are indestructible....or close to it....and they DO hold the bass fairly steady....

No worries, I can take it man... ouch it only hurts when I laugh.

But yes, I do have to agree on the boring old black case thing, but I guess for those that do tote their gear all over the black hides scuffs and dings better.

for sure the white is not for seasoned road guys...unless they want their white cases " Relic'ed" lol :eyebrow:

And could you imagine someone spilling one of those tropical brightly colored mixed drinks on it at a gig? You could have your own "custom" :hiding: ready-made tie-dye case, just add drunk idiot.

Yea their bassist is cool too...But Navaro is genius!
I think it would be pretty cool to groove with Steve though.

Their FIRST bassist was cool. Others they have had are technically good but that's about all I can say for them. That band was 100% made by that originally lineup and removing any of them does total damage. They will never do another "Nothings Shocking" or "Ritual de lo". I am just waiting for the day they admit it and pack up and do some different bands. I loved this band back and the day and still live by those early albums. I miss Eric Avery.

Yes they are.....I guess I don't understand why it's a dealbreaker....just don't look! or take a sharpie and color them black.

Of course, your choice as to what breaks any deal.

This.

Well maybe, but black Sharpie ink actually has blue in it and has a weird sheen so it would not look right on a dark brown/black background. It would also come off on your fingers. :)

For me, an unlined board is a deal breaker. I'd like to get a feet less again one day, but I'm just not confident enough without frets to not need those lines.

That's the whole point for me. I want an unlined board to push myself to become a better player and to develop my ear further. I don't want "training wheels" as Doug would say.

Hey, I have a F*nder, and it's a fine axe. The bridge is the wrong shape, but they can't all be Lakkies.

Have two, will travel.

I have owned 3 fretless basses.
The first was a lined fretless..
I was just getting the hang of it and then along came GAS and I rolled it.
The second was unlined.
I actually took to the unlined quicker...
It was very cool, and like ya said a challenge.
A welcome one.
I enjoyed learning the spots to land on and all that.
But GAS again hit and POOF off that one went .
Last one was lined...
Just had my brain dialed into the non lined..so the lines then messed me up all over again....so I quickly rolled that last lined one and then pretty much packed in the entire fretless game for awhile..

Dang! how are you liking the ebony necks markus? i remember seeing the pic of the HB that you have too.

Love it! Must have more!:D

Somehow I am going to land me a US Lakland with an ebony board!
Sadly doubting any are floating around in the used marketplace...
Might need roll 3 basses to get the cha ching to order a new one.
Wonder if they will make me:

Candy Apple Red
Decade
Matching headstock
Ebony Board
White Pearloid marker dots
White Pearloid pickguard
Active electronics with a bunch of cool dials and switches :) :) :)
Dual single coil chisonics in bucker cases

Wrapped up in one of those fancy white and black Lakland Cases :)

THAT is what I want :)
Think they can make it to these specs?
How much? $3,500? $3,800?

4 month wait?

I might actually sell 3 basses to fund this bay boy at some point in the not too distant future :)

Everything but the cream case! Do it!:D

The USA ATKs are nice, prefer them over Stingrays, but they don't hold a candle to he 44-02...my entire band and I are in awe...

Bought a USA ATK when they came out in the 90's! Great bass! Cool flame maple board. Built like a tank!

Ok, so for the second time I took out my Hollowbody to a gig, and for the second time, I was just not feeling it. The Chi's have a tone that cuts differently than any of my other basses. I think the bass is more 'soul' sounding than what we play, so... Looks like I'm gonna have to put it up on the trading block. :rollno:

Just thought I'd send out the heads up...

Bummer dude:hmm: I'm sure someone will be willing to spoon with it at night.

Two new pics.

Super awesome! My favorite combo...Lakland and Walkabout!

AWESOME!
+1 to Lakland and MESA!

:eyebrow:
:D

hahahaha your killing me...hahahah!!
Hey man ya know I always give ya a headsup.
Or try to at least :D
"Holdsg Museum"...LMAO
Gotta love it!

Well ya know, after I was reading the HB comments on here this morning.
I played mine for 30 mins.
It was so dull with the flats that came on it...thumpity thump thumpity. :rollno:
Soooooo... I looked around and found a set of DR High beams I had bought awhile back and put on a Stingray 30th anniv. Ray for all of like 30 mins playtime till I thought they ruined the sound of that bass making it too bright.
Took them off... put them in the box and stuck them away.

Well I know an HB with darkstars is not a typical match for such a bright string.
BUTTTTTTT!
Man this thing is a whole new bass!
No longer the thudding bass it was.
It now growls very VERY snotty and has such a killer mean tone that I wanted for it.
The HB bass and dark stars are normally deep and leaning towards the "dark side" ....so the brighter strings balance really well!
Super pleased I tried this!! :hyper: :D :bassist:

Yeah...I decided I like mine better with the presurewounds, tabewounds, or a good nickel round, like Dunlops or Sunbeams.

My hollowbody has the Chi-Sonics. Either way, the tonal range on this bass from flats to rounds is really something else. They are definitely not one trick ponies like so many hollowbodies are.

+1! Yeah...not at all to my ears. Lots of variations

Hit the deck! The word "custom" was used :hiding:

He he he!

The custom refers to the bound/blocked fretboard and matching headstock right?

Yes.

Oh my goodness ... first Doude waves, now Markus waves. :)
