Hi.
My first Lakland arrived yesterday!
I live in probably the only civilized country in the world without a Lakland AD (Norway), so I had never heard of Lakland basses until I discovered talkbass a couple of years ago. After that I've been reading a lot about them, and have been GASing after one for a while. I've been looking at the classifieds, and about a week ago I found what I considered to be a really good deal, so I took the chance and bought it without ever having tried a Lakland.
The bass has been featured here before, as it has earlier been owned by two members of this group (?) - Mr Matt and Smallequestrian.
I got to play it about an hour yesterday, and it's really a fantastic bass. It looks almost like new, and even with the shipment from the US to Norway and Norwegian taxes it's still a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than an MIA Precision. It is one of the best basses I've ever tried, and by far the best I've owned.
I haven't had the time to take any pictures yet, so I'll just have to show the pictures from the classifieds. I'll be away on business a few days, but I'll take some new pictures next week.
Got the tracking number and it will be in my hands on Thursday. Not as big of a score as the Olympic US Glaub but it's still pretty sweet.
The drop is pretty dramatic....

Birdseye maple board, White Pearl blocks and white binding.
BIG thanks to my good friend Projectapollo.
Looking forward to giving her a good new home.

You could name this one "Little Boy Blue." Although it does kind of remind me of those blue tuxedo's from the 70's with the huge white ruffles. But very nice Dan, good score... again

yeah agreed, active is usually louder than passive so it is normal. i like my gain trim pot on full.

Some of you know I have a Mike Pope FlexCore pre in my 55-01. One of the things Mike worked on in this pre was to have near parity in the output between active and passive. It makes passive mode an 'active', usable choice mid-set, without amp adjustment. This is something I take advantage of, combined with his passive tone module (which also does nice things even in active mode!) On my stock 02s, passive is more of a backup for me.
Somehow I am going to land me a US Lakland with an ebony board!
Sadly doubting any are floating around in the used marketplace...
Might need roll 3 basses to get the cha ching to order a new one.
