On topic, looking through the list of Lakland owners, does anybody know what's happened to the early guys? Jaquo, Nubs etc?

Oh, and before I go, RIP Duck Dunn and Jim Marshall (founder of Marshall amps)... you shall be missed.

Hmmmm...would it be possible for the LOG to send a condolence card to Duck Dunn's family? could that be arranged? Presumably Lakland have contact details.

I saw Roscoe here in Milwaukee back in March playing a fundraiser for a local high schools Arts program with a local guitar player, Greg Koch.
Roscoe was AMAZING, but not very friendly when I met him afterwards. :hmm:

The bass arrived from Adam today. I'm kinda speechless. Love at first sight... and touch. Weighs only 8 pounds and 9 ounces, but somehow feels lighter. I replaced the D'Addario steel strings with LaBella flats. Raised the action a tad. Habida habida habidahabida.

I can't believe the condition this bass is in. Ten years old, but looks like new. The back had some kind of plastic over it. I can't find as much as a single belt buckle scratch. Also, seeing it in person, the white perloid pickguard looks pretty good.

I couldn't be happier.

I agree...my collection does not over-run each other either....of course my wife does not understand that...

our 25tgh is coming up (next Thursday)....I guess i REALLY owe her huh?

before you all start! I have tried to suggest some fun trips etc but with her killing her tendon in January she is leary of travel right now!!!!

It WILL come though....

on topic..congrats Jes! I cannot wait to come and visit...we will ahve to work on the new wine fridge...and the scotch cellar!

Thanks, Doude! So far, 40 feels a whole lot like 39... except for the new bass, the new wine fridge and the dozen new bottles... So I guess 40 actually seems a bit better than 39...

Oh: I lied in the other thread: The scotches were Lagavulin and The Glenlivet, not Oban.

What's cool about my current stable (1 Sadowsky Standard with humbuckers, 1 Fender Am. Std Precision 5 and 1 Lakland 5502) is that none of them *really* get into the others' faces, sound-wise. I can still see uses for the other two, even though the Sadowsky cost a freakin' mint and is dead sexy.

But honestly, the new axe has shown me a whole new world in terms of what a buttload of money gets you, feel-wise. I'm not kidding about trading that Skyline up for a US model one of these years.

Ah, my old bass. I gigged with this one, but I also baby-ed it. I regret trading this one for Adam's Callowhill. Ended up selling the Callowhill within a week to a buddy. Enjoy this as much as I did. Cheers!:hyper:

By the way, couldn't stay away from the Glaubs. Sooooo, I just bought Johnny Alien's Korean Skyline Bob Glaub in LPB. I'm loving the tone of this one. The electronics are super noisy though and I'm guessing it's because of the fact that it had a Dark Star in it previously and the wiring wasn't restored to it's original condition. It'll be a great backup bass to my US Joe Osborn.

I know, I know. No pics, no bass. I'll take some family photos this weekend. Long overdue.

Received the Markus Orange P5 prototype from Chef today. Best deep, grindy P tone ever, in spades, with a perfect setup and drop dead gorgeous optics, but I'm so much more comfortable with the 55-94 body shape or my Elricks when I play seated that I'm not sure I'll keep it. I'm gonna spend the weekend with it and figure things out by Sun or Mon.

The P bass body is the most comfortable one ever made, for me, so it's hard for me to wrap my head around this one. Always play standing up--problem solved!
