I just installed a J-Retro preamp into my faithful Daryl Jones 4..... Wow !!! The DJ Tone on steroids !!! I get a much better slap Tone which is what I was hoping.

Truly a great upgrade to my Lakland !

Highly recommended !

Crappy pic, but just got the cherry burst 55-02 this week at work. Havent had much time to dig in, but from out the box, she feels real nice! I'll maybe try and take better pics later.

yupper....perfection is nice...US Laklands usually end up spoiling bass players and setting their standards rather high.....they did for me....

I never liked the stock Lakland knobs for some reason.

I did not like them either. I bought a set of ebony dome knobs and they really look nice on the bass. I don't have any pics but the bass is a 55-94 with a quilt maple top and a three-tone sunburst finish.
