Took Sea Monster to my new band's rehearsal the other day, that DS was spectacular sounding.... again :-). The beautiful beast was complimented by all on her striking looks also. She's still sporting the Chromes that Markus had on her. Strangely, I was able to drop the E all the way down to B without excessive buzz or floppiness, for a little Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar fun. What a bass, what a neck, what a sound!!

i am lot a luthier so i do not know what goes into chambering a bass. i had a Lightwave VL 5 and it was chambered with a F hole, it sounded huge. if it was a 35" scale i would have kept it. maybe the electronics of a 55-94 wouldnt sound right in a chambered bass. weight for me can be an issue as i have herniated disc's in my neck and back. if i could get a 55-94 at 8.5lbs that would probally be light enough for me my 55-02 is almost 10lbs. sorry my thoughts are all over the place.

I would think chambering is 90% about weight and only about 10% about tone. Otherwise, you're talking a hollowbody, which is more like 90% about tone and weight is not really a concern.

Nah.....the thoughts are in a good logical order
The main issue when chambering a bass is where to chamber and how much to take out....there is some "science" to it.
In addition you then have to cut a top AFTER the body is chambered so that it matches perfectly.

All possible...just time consuming...

Maybe 55-94 owners can chime in on the weights of theirs. I'd bet the average weight of a 55-94 is around 9 lbs., maybe less. If you order one, you should be able to ask them for a lighter-than-average body.

I find the LOG much more navigable on my phone since Marcel made changes to speed up the site a few months ago. It definitely works well on a tablet.

I'm not holding my breath for an app. We gotta move over to v-bulletin first, and right now the timing of that is unclear.

Well...surely NOT my carlo basses....but I knew that going in......bubinga is heavy wood....
