Need to know which pickups you have on yours. Mine has Dark Stars and I don't feel the need for a thumb rest. But I heard that Roger at Jeannie's Pickguards has a thumb rest that installs on a Dark Star mount, not sure how it works though.
Got another pic from Leo today. Unfortunately as they were finishing it up they found an unacceptable finish flaw in the headstock and are sending the neck back to be repainted. another few weeks is not a big deal to me. I'm actually working 65+ hours a week right now after having a month and a half off. So the extra time combined with the influx of income works out perfectly for paying the rest of what i owe off. Sure is pretty though.

would Lakland do a Semi Hollow 55-94? maybe even a cool F hole. i am saving up for a 55-94. if i am going to get my ultimate bass i wonder if they would customize it for me.
I dunno about that. Apparently they won't even do chambering, so I wouldn't get my expectations up too much. That's not a ding on Lakland; they just don't seem to be set up for that sort of thing.

It's a part of their business model I would think, people buy the instrument for not only the great tone but also the fit, finish, and playability. If they had shipped those out, it would have impacted their business.
As the saying goes, it only takes one unsatisfied customer to ruin a reputation

True. And to build it back up again: I was a severely unsatisfied customer, but once the Hanson guys took over, they changed that for me in a big way. Upshot? I don't think I'll ever be a fan of Dan, but I'm back to wanting a US Lakland. And I'm back to talking up the brand.

I've pondered the idea of a chambered Lakland. But my 55-94 weighs in at 8.25 pounds, so from a wieght standpoint, mine does not need chambering. Anywhere between 8 and 9 pounds is perfect for me.
Part of it is a weight thing.....the other part is the sound.
according to "Lakie Historian" Carl Pedigo, the prototype Scheff was chambered (upon request)....he said it soundded sweet!
do to costs, logistics etc they decided not to make the produciton models chambered.....so it HAS been done....at least ONE!

Hmmm, that is interesting. I have never played a chambered instrument. How is the sound effected by chambering? I have no clue.
My Sadowsky is chambered and sounds like a hundred gods. I played a chambered Mike Lull that sounded like an extremely meaty Fender jazz, and Godin makes a chambered strat clone that sounds incredible. I'm totally sold on the chambered body concept
Never played a chambered bass myself but everyone I know who played one says I have to try one out.....someday
