That's what I thought as well. I guess I'm going to try one to hear the difference. And I guess NYC Sadowsky is a well known chambered bass.

Mike Lulls are also generally chambered. I find that the sound more Fendery, less unique. Which might make a Lull a better go...

Those are heavy compared to most of the US Laklands I've had.

I think the magic of chambering is that it takes any given chunk of wood's inherent weight out of the equation. I mean, sure; a lighter piece will be even lighter chambered, but you no longer have to worry about strapping on an 11-pound bass.

I KNOW....a couple of them were heavy because they were "test basses" and were never meant to be sold.

I KNEW the Bubinga ones were going to be heavy..actually teh weight on the fretless surprises me...lighter than i thought

On subject.....put a set of marcus miller strings on my jo5cs.....love the sound! Not sure if the sound can be classified as growlly....more of a mean purr......
