I grew up in Holladay area, also went to UofU, but grad'd from that "other school". But been in Cali since 88. All my other siblings are somewhere in UT. I'm the outcast, but in this case its self-imposed.

More in common with Markus, first it was just the hair and Laklands (natch), but now, eeerie.....

LOL! Yeah...I am from CA, when to U of U to play outside linebacker. Had to stop playing because of a back problem I was born with, then went to Cal State Long Beach. Been hairless since about '04:D

Still getting used to the Hollowbody and was wondering if anyone ever put a thumb rest on one of them. I usually rest on top of the neck pick-up but this just doesn't feel right and I seem to loose tone when I try laying on the bridge pip. Thought I might install a thumb rest between the two. Any thought? TIA

After a long hiatus from bass playing I've decided on a 55-01. I'm getting a great deal and need to decide on a 3 tone sunburst/rosewood 9lbs or a natural/maple that they have to put together at Lakland. Which one do I choose?

You choose the 1 you want, but if you're asking what I'd choose, it's the sunburst, only because 9 lbs is a light weight for a 5501. If you take the nat/maple (a combo I prefer), you might get a 10 lb bass, and for me that'd result in a bass for sale. YMMV. Great basses BTW.

Personally, I think that sunburst is the wrong choice nearly 100% of the time, but I agree that, if the natural comes out at 10 lbs, it might feel too heavy.

is 3tone sunburst/maple an option? hahaa. I love my 55-01 so either way you go, it will be a great choice for you. I love my maple neck. I have a quilted blue burst finish and its just beautiful. :) Im upgrading my preamp in september so then it will really be the bass to die for. ;)
