Hey all - (please tell me if this is the wrong thread)
Have a 44-02. LOVE it. Posted a pic somewhere in "lakland owners #47".
The band I'm in plays quite a few songs in C, and I missed having a 5 string, and I was fortunate enough to find a 55-02 on TB to fit the bill.
Just got the bass from fedex today. I'll plug it in tonight at practice, but I noticed when I got it out of the bag and tuned it up that the strings were a bit "off" (when I pulled the G off the fretboard during an octave run...yes, I need to work on my technique!)
Any thoughts? (or am I crazy...) I loosened the strings, checked the bridge, tried loosening the neck a smidge to shift the neck in the pocket, etc. When I tuned it back up, it looked basically the same...
I saw a rather large thread on 'crooked bridges', which I don't think this is... it looks like it is perhaps just misaligned/misplaced?
Any advice is appreciated!

Does the shot make the bass look kick a$$?

I would add...use a tripod, and natural light if you can. And for God's sake...NO FEET!!!!

I agree on the "no feet rule!"
agreed....the subject has alot to do with the "attractiveness" of the picture...
but WHY? I like the "natural look"....besides I was "rushing that day" to get pics of the pair onto TB!

sounds like I should be meditating in the lotus position and going ..."uummmmm"
try to diffuse the flash somehow.
If it tilts try bouncing it up at the ceiling at various angles...
Sometimes flashes have a lil diffuser panel to fold down over flash, that also helps.
If not? I have used in the past a single ply tissue cut and taped over the flash to soften the flash effect.
try this if you MUST use flash.
But indirect natural light is for sure the best to light basses.
Unless ya want that slick studio light vibe. And happen to have some studio strobes and soft boxes and striplights laying around
1) the flash is a "pop up" type with NO (mean NO adjustments!)
2) natural light is hard to find in my house...too many trees and foliage around the house for good inside shots...and MOST of teh year I get home when it is dusk to dark or the light is "wrong".....I am so "light challenged"...

The number one tip for good pics is do not wear THOSE shorts while taking the pics....hahahaha!! got cha!
that was ALL airbrush work...REALLY.....actually...every time I wear those I declare it "frumpy shorts day"....my wife says I am nuts...BTW - speaking of "frumpy shorts" where has Tat been???
Wow, it's been a while I haven't felt so dumb. Don't know what are any of the mentioned objects. Unless a sand bag is really a bag full of sand. Wondering what would that have to do with photography though.

Much to do about (almost) nothing... I loosened everything up again, and even loosened the bridge a little bit, tugged things around, and got it pretty squared up. Its about as even on the neck as the 44-02 I have now. Perhaps shipping/heat/the boogyman messed up the bass in transit.

Yay! Another suicidal G-string brought back from the brink
Glad it all got sorted. Had a similar issue with a 44-02, in my case it turned out to be a misaligned saddle from a string change.
Now this is a must see for ol' Black Bart.

I'm here - I've been lurking mostly. Hours have gotten a little weird and I had some unexpected drama that I could have done without. The drama's starting to die down though, and I'm getting things set for Chicago in October.

Nooooo....not at all. Talkbass is my sanity on most days ending in Y and you guys here at the LOG never fail to make me smile at least a little. It'll all work itself out and I'll land on my feet. Anything less can't happen. Thanks for worrying about me, though. It's nice to know I've been missed.
But I was gonna put rhinestones on my toes. They'd be pretty. It's not like I'm suggest you put *your* feet in the picture.
