I just picked up a 44-02 and a 55-02D here on TB and really love them, though I am trading the 55-02D for a Bongo

My boss just ordered a Carvin kit guitar, with a case.
They did the same thing. Stupid

How are you going to put a kit guitar, which is a bunch of lose parts that haven't been put together yet, in an instrument case?

Carvin will ONLY ship their new basses in a hard shell case, BTW.

I'm with Texan, I just think a good case should be a part of a quality instrument purchase.

That's fair, you have that choice. It can still be part of the purchase. Just make sure you tell that to your sales person when you buy your next brand new Lakland.

Good point. On top of adding the so praised case (and it is a very nice one by the way), it streamlines their shipping process, as their basses are assembled in California and are shipped straight from the factory to the end buyer. No need to double box them, pad them, etc, etc, just throw it on the case and go.
Now, if Lakland offered a case like that at $69 like Carvin, then I am on board with you all, I'd get it just because.

I'm walking home right now from a gig at a local pub. The 5502 stayed home this time, but I'm thinking of bringing her out to the next or the one after.

While we're on the subject...other than the obvious Lakland cases (which are rather expensive) any recommendations on a good cheap hardshell that will fit 4401/5501 basses?

the skb, jazz/precision bass case fitted my 55-02 perfectly.

pop music. one was a slow heavy rocky kinda song, one was upbeat RHCP-esque song, and the last was a slow acousticy type song with lots of layers of drums playing tribal/floor tom kinda stuff. lol.

real happy with how it went!

Nope, I'm the real life Grinch. I hate Christmas. I love watching my kids get presents, bit I hate the holiday. It's about material things. People forget that its about family.
