Mine's got a jazz nut width or I couldn't play it. I was not a DS fan until I got this bass. God willing... this one's a "Lifer".

I had a Skyline DS'd Glaub (P width nut :() that didn't sound appealing to me, and Carl Pedigo's 35" scale 4-76 (Stingray style) w/ Bart preamp that I didn't fall in love with tonally also.

That's a Gruv Gear Fretwrap right? I'm considering getting one or more of those things :). I taught myself to play almost 25 years ago, and developped my own floating thumb right hand method to keep the unplayed strings from humming along. I'm much faster at raking techniques if I leave my thumb anchored though.

How do you like the wrap?

Hi Lakland folks! Those are some beautiful instruments you all have. I have a task for all of you, if anyone is up to it: convince me to buy a Lakland!

I'm in the market for my first expensive (for me) bass, and I thought I wanted a Fender American Standard P...but then, I got to try a Lakland Skyline. It's all I've thought about all day. So...anyone got anything that will convince me to go Lakland, once and for all?

Customer service, the feel of the neck, the tiny frets, the superior pickups, larger mass bridge, this awesome group we call the LOG and the Lakland Owners' website.... what more do you need?

I bet the smooth-playing neck is one reason you've been thinking about that Skyline. Go for it!:)

The neck is absolutely a big reason I'm considering Lakland! Honestly, I've never played an instrument before that played so well!

Wow, thanks for the video! I've never heard the Meters before, but that was definitely awesome! I'll have to hunt down some more of their music to listen to.

Thanks to everyone else for weighing in. Part of my hesitation is that it's an Asian made instrument for close to the price of a U.S. Fender, but that Lakland...I've never played anything like it before. There was almost nothing I could have improved on it.

Don't let the fact that they are made in Asia dissuade you. The consistency of the Skyline Laklands trumps Fenders US line..as does the feel, playability, sound and customer service. I have played literally hundreds of US Fenders back when I sold basses for a living and IMHO Lakland has figured out the secret to making gold.
