So why did they decide to do that lazer etching. It just seems way to big and unneccesary for the back of a headstock.

I like it....wonder if it changes the tone of the bass.?????

I kinda dig the laser etching. I could see it helping identify US vs. Skyline basses too, as I've seen some sketchy-looking "USAs" on Ebay and a few shops. The current "made in USA" decal and etched serial numbers are pretty easy to replicate.

Though players would EASILY know the difference between US & Skyline necks, Joe Schmoe at Guitar Center or the local pawn shop??? Nah.

I'm curious about the (potential rebranding???) "Lakland Guitars" as opposed to "Lakland Basses." Maybe its a sign on things to come?

yup...a GREAT way to tell them apart....I too have seen questionable EBay listings...

The company now is called "Lakland Guitars" as an entity...the web site and headstock does not really say "Lakland Basses"....just "Lakland"
