I just got a skyline 44-64 Custom LE delivered today and thought it was going to be silver. It's definitely a light shade of blue. Anyone else have one and could shed some light on this? The bass is cool, the color is just not really what I expected.

I have always liked that color
I used to have a Saab in that color

I had a fender Mia p in tone burst
I modified with all black accents
It looked nice

IDK - That would look pretty tight. Not the headstock though, I have never got on with the painted headstock. Not sure on the cost of a bridge, that might be a deciding factor

FYI - you have to "surrender" the old bridge to a buy a black one.

That's a qualitative assessment. I want numbers of how much deflection ones sack sees. And is ballsy more or less than fat? What if you have fat, ballsy, tone?

Bass by numbers is almost impossible!!!

It's all subjective and dependent on amp, amp settings, cab, speakers, room , attack, scrotal positioning, mindset, attitude, taste and blood alcohol level.

You should know this!

He told me 5~6 weeks.

I'm leaning towards the shell pink.

yup...5-6 weeks is "typical"....and the work is stellar!

"Warm" is the one I discount the most on TB. No one ever describes an amp or a bass as "cold" or "sterile" unless they don't like it. Some gear that has been described as "warm" by others sounds like an ice pick through my eardrums.

Therefore, "warm" simply means "I like it."

H'okay....so, this is my issue. I have a skyline Hollowbody with TI flats. I like the action a little on the high side as I tend to dig in more and I don't want there to be an over-abundance of string buzz. I just raised the saddles, but there is a late order mode shape that causes the A string to buzz at the fifth fret. What I mean by late order is the buzz manifests about 1.5s after I pluck the string. Should my next move be a truss rod adjustment? If so, which direction do I turn the rod to raise the strings up, clockwise?

Lots of people want more than 2k for a standard Glaub which I find shocking. $1700-1900 seems to be the average range. Over 2k should get you a 44-64 Custom or something like that. I found my old white one but he doesn't seem to want to get rid of it yet.

for some reason Glaubs rarely come up...when they do they go FAST....

What I really desire most right now is a 44-64 custom PJ in a pastel color... Mmmmm

+ 100 I used to play like that as well with no problems, now I have to be very careful of my posture and arm positions as the body is speaking to me - and it never has anything nice to say:scowl:

I guess I have to watch what I do....I need to start to really watch my position...and see what I am doing....I am older and do not want things to get worse..

I've learned from 20+ years of weight lifting and martial arts that any angle that doesn't place the body/limb/etc in a position of power or strength, is not one that you'd want to do repetitive motions in. I can crack walnuts with my right hand in my straight wrist plucking position but with my wrist bent at 90 degrees.... injury waiting to happen.

So you are saying that the theory of setting your strap to mimic your sitting position is wrong? Or am I misreading?

???? never heard that ...BUT come to think about it...that is kinda how I have my strap set.

I have played bass for 25 years, and been a competetive olympic weightlifter since I was 13 years old. I have won multiple state championships and competed at multiple national championships. I play my bass very high and have never had wrist issues. This, like everything else, is more related to how you are built, flexibility, mobility and how you care for your joints.

Here's my positioning. My Lakland 4-76 is in the background on the stand . Nevermind the left hand... my thumb is usually behind the neck.

Great stuff JJ, one can never be too careful. Like you, I prefer a more "extreme" neck angle of 45° - just works for me.

Unfortunately too late for my fretting thumb which has recently developed basal joint osteoarthritis, now it's a topical nsaid and icing down after playing despite it being in the "proper" position.

I used to play 90% of the time siting down ( I play in a praise and worship band) but am now standing more...will experiment with hand placement....

adjustment would mean removing a Dunlop strap lock though (argh!!!!)

I feel largely the same about 90s grunge (I guess I'm a tad too young for 80s hair metal) and new hipster type music where the appeal is that they are too cool to be good musicians...

had an interesting conversation with my other the other day....I she just turned 72. I told her I think she "got younger" as she aged.....I remember her at 35 to 45 and she was "old to me".....now I feel younger than she looked to me at the time...

she agreed that the culture today allows people to act and be younger than 30 - 40 years ago....

Many years ago I would have preferred death over playing county, but now I am doing some covers in one band and the original band is getting ready to go to studio and is pretty much modern country. The really amazing part is that I really kinda like it. Though, I will not admit to it

I agree on the Country thing....when we play out (1-2 times per year) we do a mix of Christian and secular music...one of the singers loves country so we do a few modern country songs....I was kind of digging the bass lines myself....but NOT trying to look like I was having fun doing it...

But will refrain from giving any real thought to owning it...at least for now heheheh

LOL...we ALL have the Markus syndrome....the man just keeps getting better and better basses....and to think - his first Lakland bass (I think) was a Dudepit LE I (right Markus???)
