I can't answer this question... but have you tried the Chisonics yet? I have a DS jazz bass and a Chisonic JO and the Chis sound pretty close to the DS, although I find the Chis to be a little punchier and smoother on the low end.

I can't answer this question... but have you tried the Chisonics yet? I have a DS jazz bass and a Chisonic JO and the Chis sound pretty close to the DS, although I find the Chis to be a little punchier and smoother on the low end.
Not to my knowledge. Unfortunately, they're very hard to get these days. Fred Hammon has produced hardly any over the past few years, as far as I can tell. There's a Dark Star Club thread in the Basses forum, Fred has popped up there every year or two but nothing much seems to get done.
This is a good point. To add to it further, Lakland/Hanson has begun producing a new kind of Chisonic with an alnico magnet that's supposed to get even closer to the Dark Star sound. Tom P on the LOG bought a pair for his HB and really loves'em (and he has a DS-loaded Lakland as well).

Same here, I think it looks great. I think the size is fine. If it were on the FRONT of the headstock at that size, then it'd be pretty loud. But on the back, I think it really works.

I have seen a Sherwood green Glaub in person at the shop, and it was really sharp! It was later owned by TBer/LOGer Matt Call. I'm not sure if he still has it, but there were pics on the LOG either in the Maternity Ward or Swap Meet forums.
Also, the first Dude Pit Limited Edition bass (the DPLE I) was a Sherwood green Skyline JO with a pre installed. Search the TB Classifieds, a few of them have come up for sale.

I play US Laklands.... therefore I drive a Pinto. JK, but I don't drive expensive vehicles.
And, I personally love the etching but hate when someone says I play guitar, or that it's a bass guitar.

You know, Lakland, being a "custom shop" could probably leave it off if you don't like it. I can't imagine that Brian is going to force the etching on you at [insert weapon] point.
