Lakland Owners Group #64

I've got a non-Lakland bass that is routed for two of this size pickup, kind of a project bass for me. I've got some Barts I modified to fit, but they are not quite wide enough to cover the string spread so I've been on the lookout for something good and cheap to put in there that are the proper size. Found one Lakland pickup for $50, so now I need another one to match it! Hoping to stay around the same price. Also have a spare LH-3 preamp to go in it so it would be nice to have all Lakland electronics in it.

...sounds Like a cool project....my Carlo CB550HH fretless has double Hanson humbuckers and an LH3....LOVE IT!

make sure you put in dual tap switches for ultimate variability....:)

First ordered or first owned?

Ordered a DJ 4 and an amber 5502 deluxe ( first one EVER ordered) within a couple of weeks of each other.....had to convince Dan to do the amber!

About 2 weeks later ( give or take) I bought a GREAT 2002 skyline Glaub from MrPacker Guy ....drove to Madison one Friday evening to pick it up....

The rest is history....

My first owned :) my order is officially in for my shortie! I mean, I had that neck, but I decided on a body so I didn't have sad bodiless necks laying around. So, it'll be as if I ordered an entire bass. My first! Yay!

The Colorado Club held a TB GTG at Premier Bass Guitars today... WoodyG3 snuck this pic of me with my 06/11 55 AJ with Aguilar OBP-3 Pre as I was checking out the Gruv Gear Fret Wraps...

Nice....any more pics?

I am all stupid on fret wraps...what do they do? Kinda like a capo?

Not of me and the AJ but of the get together in general... Superdick 2112 and WoodyG3 posted a bunch here

The fretwraps are fancy scrunchies that some use to dampen sympathetic vibrations and help mute open strings.... I don't know if it works or not, but at least I look like one of the cool kids with it on there...

I must have a real problem or be in denial....cause when i listed this i forgot about 2 others I got AFTER the Carlos.....

Do I have a great problem,?

no bro, but you did better - you found a way to deal with the pricks of conscience!

Actually....I lied.....I actually gave up a tooth for my last Lakland.....actually gave up a body part for it.....
Man, tHAT is Devotion from a capital "D". Also, make sure they make you aN engraving of the Lakland logo when you get that tooth back !

My very first, a ESP-produced Shoreline Series 4-94 in natural/maple, still my fave. 6 years later, I never owned a bass other than a Lakland.
First ordered, it was Nessie. Ebony lined fretless over a slick black body, passive, and single Chis.

well...My pocket book was lighter and my wife was a bit unhappy - but it all worked out in the end!

Tooth back??? No thanks! it was a wisdom tooth....I "had" to go to the dentist and doctor for "permission" to get the bass...I actually have a good amount of follow up to do...dental-wise BUT that is pretty expensive....more so than 2 new US Lakies if I do it all.
