Contact LEO @ Lakland, he could have a bad pup. I had a bad pup with G/D weak output (now mind you, it was on a chi sonic, notable for having some issues from time to time) and was replaced free of charge, no questions asked.

What G said....sorry about the low A issue...that does seem like a pick up issue ...I am sure Lakeland will make it right...

Thanks for the replys guys. I'll tell him to give Lakland a call.

On a positive note, I enjoyed playing the hell out of mine last night. Got several compliments on my tone afterwards. My 55-02 comes to every show with me and it's always so much fun to play.

Yup...fun to play and lots of tones from one bass!

Let us know how it works out with your friend

What amp/cab combinations do you guys use? I'm between gigs and down from rotator cuff surgery so my mind is wandering, thank you vicodin!

Vicodin+downtime=gas^2

V+D=G^2

I'm thinking about a new head and cab. I currently have an Aguilar TH500 and Genz Streamliner 900 for heads and Aguilar DB212 and a pair of DB112's. I really have the craving for either 15's or 10's. I found a Bergantino HT322 locally for a good price and a LDS with a 15, 12 and 2-8's, its big but sounds bigger than an SVT810. I'm also wanting a Berg NV610. Not sure what to buy if anything at all.

What do you Lakla-holics use?

I've had a couple things with my Lakland, but right now, it's a Baer ML112 and a tecamp Puma 500. It destroys. Warm and clean sound, gives back whatever you give it. It's defintely tonal bliss for sure. So much so that I just ordered a Puma 900 this morning! With just one of these cabs and this head, it'll push out 500 watts at 8ohms in a 40lb total package. Man, it's a great time to be a bass player!

I've been using my Bergantino IP310 for years with a variety of preamps, my favorite being my current Fender TBP-1. I've also run my Laklands through a GK MB210 with a 212MBE extension.

I like both combinations, though the Berg is definitely my favorite.

I find myself favoring my TH500 with my passive Lakies, 44-64 and 44-60. It's a very vintage sound, warm, punchy and full.

The Streamliner brings something especially mystical my 55-01 and 55-02. The sound almost envelopes you. Very beautiful.

Don't get me wrong, I love my rigs. I just feel like I need a 10" speaker at times.

Actually the only thing that bugs me about my rig is that I bought White Hot. Which I like because it stands out. But I find myself at times wishing that I would have got the classic black. But it looks killer with my Trans White 44-60, very 70's. Almost like Liberace is stalking it mark it with vomit.

All my Laklands are pretty killer thru my custom EBS HD350+ head(it says HD 350 on the front but on the back it says HD 350+) the plus is 650w @ 2ohms instead of the standard 350W @ 2ohms.

I'm blessed to be one of only 4 people in the U.S. with that amp as they're not on the market.

Here's a sneak peak!! :) :) :)

I think I listened to one of your clips the other day and you and I have a similar tonal liking.

On another note, Why have the Cherry Bursts gone down hill in the last few years? In the early production years, the gradient was beautiful, like what I have and in JCSGroove's pic above. These days they simply look anemic.

Cool brother!!! Nothing wrong with trying to sound good huh? :) :) That's my life-long journey! haha!

As for the production,it's hard to say.I was an artist with Lakland from 2002-2006 and I used to visit the shop at least 5-6 times a year.It seemed as if every block of wood, bodies, necks, were all of great quality.

I remember seeing a stack of necks in a corner and they all looked fine to me but they were considered defects for one reason or another.I asked them to let me have one of the necks to use and they got on my case pretty good explaining how their necks were their claim to fame and they can't risk having a bad one out there. The only thing wrong with this neck was a slight blemish in the grain!!

I don't know how they are now but,I'm sure that attitude towards perfection might be part of it.

Nice bass!!!!!!

I can totally understand about the blemish, but the way that the many of the quilt tops are stained, it's like there is almost no fade at all. Its red then yellow. It just looks funny to me.

Hopefully I'll get to say I'm an artist again for a company. I was with GK for a short time in the late 90's. I would just love to have JP let me officially say, I am a Lakland Artist. All I'd ask for is a shirt and hat. I didn't get a great deal with GK, I'm a no body in the grand scheme, but it was the fact that I could say it and played many dates per month and was a good friend of their A&R guy.
