Yeah, Carl had someone else in the shop send me a picture of the body...Even Carl will tell you he's behind the times technology-wise. I don't think his phone takes pictures.

From what I've heard and seen of Carl, I could picture him having one of those old Motorola handsets...

I'm going for a Gibson '59 Reissue Bourbon Burst. Has more browns on the sides, and is really nice and bright in the center. A nice contrast to the Blue-Green-Yellow burst of the other one. Something like this, of course it may be up to Carl's interpretation:

Looks similar to a Gibson my guitarist has. That should be sweet!

The Mesa Prodigy absolutely kills. Big clean tube power 250 watts and only 29 lbs. Love it! That sledge is actually a wood maul. I was splitting firewood earlier that day but it does come in handy for speaking softly as well.

Right. She originally had it installed to use through a Roland VB-99 V-Bass system, but I don't know how much she uses that particular setup now; her rig is constantly evolving....

Ha, thanks! I didn't necessarily mean they would make the 3 bucker standard but more what I've got in the other bass. (2 single coils in 1 MM shell and then the neck jazz pickup) It would be easy for Lakland to do and would fit their natural asthetics. After having had both the standard Lakland humbucking pickups in that bass and now the single coils, I greatly prefer these.
Also, I don't think my most recent Lakland elation would exist if these pickups were Barts. I played Barts for years in a million basses from Modulus to Kinal to MTD and Lakland offers the perfect mix of fullness, clarity, and edge.....perfect for me anyways!

I agree on your Barts vs. Hanson comparison....I happen to like the Hanson's better (but that is just MY opinion...and many of my good friends disagree).....

On the "other hand"....I dread selling a 55-94 I got which had barts ("Tabby)...it had one of the nicest quilt tops and BEM necks I ever saw....OK - I was stupid!!!

As for a 3 pickups...gottcha.....but - you never know what they will think up next...the brothers Hanson (sounds like a band..????) are pretty creative...

It's ok, I'm fine with a little mystery. I actually did see the wood in it's raw form. I think Carl said it had come from another instrument maker (like classical instruments), and had just sat around for a while before he had gotten it.

Yup...carl still uses a "flip phone".... :scowl:

He ahs some GREAT wood.....he hides the best stuff though and brings it out when he has a project where it is "just right"....

I have dome GREAT figuring and BEM on the necks of my 2 Carlos....
