Right now my only gig is church. Stuff on the distant horizon in a couple of different duos, though.

I'd really like a PJ, and I really like Markus Orange, so this was all just wishful thinking. US Lakie would be nice. Maybe some day...

Best compliment about a bass ever today. I play at my church using just my 55-60 Skyline and an Aguilar Tonehammer DI, and the head sound guy said he absolutely loves the bass. They don't apply any eq or compression to the bass. Everything in the house is straight from the bass and the DI. Super balanced all the way up the fingerboard and across all 5 strings. Even when switching from finger style to slap, the bass stays even. Pops punch through, but not obnoxiously so and the bottom end is still strong too. For the past 15 years I've been playing various active 5, 6, and 7 string basses, including some pretty high end stuff. The other bassists use some fairly high end basses too, but he said, "hands down, if the church was going to just buy a bass for everybody to use, we'd be buying one of THOSE."

Hey everyone- Last fall I picked up a F*nder American Standard Jazz... making it my ONLY non-Lakland bass in my stable... at first I really liked it... because it was a passive 4 string and a different flavor from all my actives and my Glaub with flats, so I played it and like it... then I started noticing weird things... like the bridge wasn't oval, and it didn't say Lakland on the headstock... So it went on to a new home and I'm in the process of buying a 44-60, but after reading that Hanson has a CS series pickups in a J-casing I'm strongly considering getting a set of those... But I wanted your advice...

Are the CS4's similar in sound to the narrow single coil Chi's?

How different are they from the vintage style CS4a's?

How different are the CS4a's from say an Aguilar AJ60 set?

Would the closed cover CS4's kill the classic look of a Sunburst and Tort 44-60 by not having the exposed pole pieces?
