I still think the main issue with the AJ line is that the tops aren't very nice compared to some of the other brands with fancy tops.

I have one, and I do like it (MK-1 was not to my liking so put a Sadowsky with VTC in) but the top isn't 'high quality' figured wood IMO. I've seen a lot of them, but obviously some are better than others. I got a really sweet deal on one so the top wasn't much of an issue for me.

The 55-AJ is on my list but I would put a Bart NTMB and Bart Classic pups in it immediately. My GAS is between the 55-AJ, Carvin SB5000 and an Elrick that is in the classifieds. They would all end up being around the same price in the end. I reality, I need to buy nothing. I don't like reality.

Were you running effects on your bass, or was that just good old fashioned tube breakup?

I'm positive that Josh (the sound guy, also the guy that did the board mix down) added a little something haven't listened to the videos with headphones yet.

I ran pretty clean out to the board through an ampeg and my DI (he mixed the signals)

I saw a REALLY cool AJ being built at the shop around Christmas...it was gonna be passive (which makes it even cooler IMO)

If I remember correctly...no top...black trans burst...a little different than the charcoal burst. It looked like it was gonna be sweet.

I have seen that burst....pretty cool...

A church I've been involved with for quite a while puts on high production Christmas services every year. I've played in the last 3...they're now posting stuff from the 2013 services. There will be a few more in the days to come.

The US ones are over $4k stock. Seems over the top to me.

The price on the Skylines are fine I guess. The problem is that, unlike the 44-02 and 55-02, Lakland does not use the US electronics in the Skyline AJs. They use the cheap Bart MK-1, which is not good IMO.

I just haven't seen any US versions around and I suspect the high price is the primary reason.

I just say that....they are a pretty special bass....

they had to use the Imported Pre to keep the price in line with the 55-60s...

I do play keys! Just for synth bass parts. It's a lot of fun...I have an A/B pedal and run both through my amp live.

I like it better than the medley, personally...and there's rap in it...haha

I was doing way more synth on this song but they had me come in later and put bass over where the synth parts were to make the mix sound more powerful for the video. And it does sound better, where I added bass later. But the synth parts were sweet! AND they forgot to put the synth in in a spot where I didn't record bass post-production. 2nd verse. But ah well, it's kinda cool without anything there now anyway

Hey Lakland guys! I have the chance to get a '99 Lakland 55-94. I was wondering how the older Laklands compare to the ones that they are making now? I have only played on newer Laklands, so I am not sure if much has changed.

Something... Well, different. Somehow I managed to write off enough stuff to convince the fed that they owe me a truckload of money. Figure I should reinvest int he economy, ya know?

You know the noise you get when the battery runs low? Well, I got that noise and put a brand new Duracell in. When I fired up the bass I still got the low battery noise, so I checked the battery in my tuner and it was ok. I put another new Duracell in the bass and now I have no sound at all!

Has anyone experienced this before?

All the wiring and connections look good (no loose ends) so I'm hoping this isn't a problem in the preamp, the original 1997 Bartolini NTMB-L, which I guess isn’t available anymore.

We have some good guitar techs around here, but I thought I’d run it past you guys first.
