Well, sorry guys. I'm a little late. Went over to the LOG and became a paying member. Yay! Feels good to talk about the best gear with some of the most excellent people around!

Rock N Roll!!! Can't wait for the announcement of your new 3 chi baby over there...Did Carl happen to mention a timeline? After seeing it halfway built I'm getting quite excited for it!

Haha. Not really. This has been a long undertaking. I expressed interest in him building me a bass after I was so thrilled with the "Carribean Burst" bass. He said he was going to keep an eye out for wood and get started. A few months later I asked him how things were progressing and he thought that I sounded unsure about doing it. I was like "oh no...I'm serious about this" Then we got going, just a small miscommunication. It occurs to me that I'm on week 83 since the conversation began. (But really, who's counting?) I'm defintely anxious! But, oh will it be worth it.

I'm testing one of the first run of Valkyrie Amplifiers by Baer Amplification, and it should be arriving Tomorrow. I was going to go to the shop and see Carl, but it looks like I may be waiting around for a Fedex guy. Certainly excited for both of these things, but I REALLY want to see the bass!

A heads up for you guys: this '02 US Lakland 4-94 will be going up for sale here shortly.

Hmmmm...and WHY may we ask?

Whattcha got cooking?

I assume something or such a fine specimen would not be on the block.

Well, nothing is cooking actually.:p I snatched this one up with the intention of playing it and maybe use the Bart preamp on my Ice Blue 4-94, which now is a hybrid of Bart pickups and LH3. Sounds great though, so the switch is probably not gonna happen.

Have to wait for a bit of nice weather for better pictures however. The weather has been horrible over here.

Well, I talked to Carl today. He's really ITCHING to get that body out to Pat Wilkins for paint, and I'm just working too dang much. I'm not even sure when I would get up to Berteau Ave. I'm a little bummed I won't be able to see the bass myself before it's painted, but I think Carl is going to try and send me a picture. He said he was going to shoot for monday. Maybe I'll have something to post for y'all then!

It is hard to see in this picture, but I played my 55-01 last night and it sounded really great. I had the Carvin Brian Bromberg Rad-J pickups in another bass and loved the sound, so I recently put some in this bass (they fit with just a small gap on the sides that isn't noticeable) and they sound amazing, even with the stock MK-1 preamp. We played 60s and 70s rock, R&B, funk and disco and it sounded great. They are pretty modern sounding pickups, but you can still dial in a warm, fat old school tone that is really articulate and punchy.

Good to see Carvin getting some compliments. Carvin and Peavey... 2 US companies that get very little credit even though they make some incredible gear.
